  1. The Scaleybark area seems to be on the verge of some type of transformation. But, the elephant in the room is South Gate apartments on Conway. The foot and automobile traffic of course brings life to the area, but (forgive me) due to the "low rent" the type of people associated have brought violence, drugs, fake homeless/ professional panhandling, and trash which has put a cap on property value and the general quality of life. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for affordable housing, but in this case, it's too concentrated and too much of a contrast to the otherwise peacefulness of the area. Heck, there aren't even any sidewalks on the most heavily walked street in the entire area! And Conway is the 1st Street you encounter coming down Scaleybark from South Blvd. I personally think that until Southgate is dealt with the scale or timetable for any substantial change is limited. Am I wrong?
  2. Heroes were on Central and the Plaza before 7th street, I'm sure they'll reopen in another location close by.
  3. I love progress, but at the same time this makes me kind of sad. I grew up in this area and almost nothing is the same. The only things that are still hanging in there is Zack's, TJ Maxx, Beef and Bottle, and... that's about it. Wow...
  4. I am so freaking excited about this project. I didn't realize how the old Observer building seemed to take away from the area until now that it's gone. Oddly, driving down Church, with the barriers and the view of BOA to the right and the Westin and company to the left, everything feels bigger. Especially at night... or is it just me?
  5. Route 4 could be a good route, but it would have to be elevated or buried. So in other words, it's not gonna happen. Atleast imho
  6. Don't get me wrong, I much rather have density than sprawl, I'm just saying, South Blvd is pretty rough already and I don't see how the street will ever be or can ever be improved. Unless maybe it's changed like how 7th is with switchable lanes during peak times. I don't know. But again, the building is pretty cool. It's still kind of mind blowing how the area has changed and still changing.
  7. When I see yet another mega sized project going on South Blvd all I can think about is how I already hold my breath while in the left lane envisioning one head on collision after the other, especially around that area. How in the world will South Blvd handle all these extra cars? And there will be more cars, train or not.
  8. Gotcha. Yeah, I figured that plot would be pretty pricey. So, what would work there I wonder? Especially with that Hotel/Condo thingy right behind it. And thanks for taking it easy on the new guy and the heads up!
  9. Hi! This is my 1st post, but I'll try to make it brief. Funny you mentioned that parking lot. To me, I think only one thing could go there. Or to be clearer only one group of things could go there. I see a row of street facing walk up type businesses. A couple of Fast food joints, convenience store, dry cleaner, electronics store, athletic apparel store, maybe even a boutique or barbershop. All two to three levels. Basically, a row of pedestrian oriented retail geared towards franchises and small businesses. That area will soon be ripe for walk up retail.
