  1. Well I agree that another admirals club is necessary and should be opened. I don't think there's actually any readily available space. And I don't think it's as simple as you think? What do you suggest? Should Charlotte's get rid of some gates close it off just to build an admirals club? I thought there should be an admirals club down an e concourse for at least a decade. But again there's no available real estate to build one. I think the massive one they are going to build is going to be a huge help, however it is obviously going to take some time to get it together. GSP is probably one of my favorite airports in the country.
  2. On a previous page isn't there a plan outlined for a enormous admirals club to be built? Seems like an investment is coming. Has an employee of AA I'm generally pretty disappointed with our product, but I do think albeit slowly, we are heading in the right direction.
  3. This connect operation was supposed to start up in Philadelphia. They have had an airplane parked up there for a long time. They were trying to hire pilots for a while but had very little luck. Frankly with an operation like avelo or breeze being available to new hires I don't know why you would go here. But as everyone knows if you want to make a million dollars in aviation start with a billion. I can't imagine that much demand for a turboprop service to and from all of those cities and Canada.
  4. Fwiw, customs in Philly, in the older a gates has you go down to later go up to customs. I could see going up to go down in CLT. Toronto does this as well.
  5. The other day taxiing out for departure it looks like they are beginning to pour gravel for the South taxiway. I would guess we will see concrete or asphalt poured down that way before summer. It seemed to me that that project seems to be expedited. I have even seen work being completed on it at night on a weekend. In regards to everyone's discussion about a c concourse and customs, I wouldn't expect sea to be widened at all until the extension of c is also underway or completed. American I cannot lose all of that gate space during construction. It would have to be a trade-off. Like open new gates close old gates for renovation or expansion. The company is already telling us we are negative gates. Ie we are short up to 10 gates a day.
  6. With a straight shot from Amazon I wonder if Amazon is going to build a airport facility between the runways. Would make sense since their gates on the south cargo ramp might be lost with the South taxiway.
  7. Not a chance. Maybe the new terminals will rival. But salt lake is all new everything. Plus those views!
  8. One of the best airports right now. Minus there being no train. That's a long walk.
  9. Looks like the new mezzanine would cover the existing trees so this makes sense. I wonder what the start date is for major construction
  10. They are covering permanently the locations where the trees used to be in the atrium. Noticed fresh terrazzo yesterday.20230224_081638.heic20230224_081638.heic20230224_081639.heic
  11. Most departures the airlines operate only have obstacle clearance performance data with no turns below 400 ft. Some airplanes have a limitation with this. Usually it applies to using the autopilot for turns. However, not sure of the relevance in that article.
  12. One thing you can assume is any article about aviation is likely full of incorrect information. As a pilot I have no idea what they are talking about with the 400 feet comment.
  13. I noticed in the Atrium today that they are pulling out the trees. and it appears they are sealing off the holes in the floor. So, no more trees.
  14. I'll add on as well, Rhino market in A is good too. they make some really good salads. The spinach bacon is my go to. They also sell a tub of their chicken salad and tuna salad (14oz I think) I grab one of these pretty often for lunch. The Vino Volo used to have decent options, but I haven't eaten there in years now. Looking forward to Bao Wow. There is one in DCA and it is always my go to there. Pricey though. In E con Brioche has meh salads. I used to like a salad (can't recall the name) from Whiskey River. I love the recent efforts for food in CLT. I realllllllly want them to step it up and open an Amelie's. What a HUGE hit that would be for locals and travellers.
  15. There's a huge sushi place in the atrium and another one in d concourse. Plenty of healthy options at the airport you are just blind.
  16. Should have kept the 350 order. Or converted it to 330neo
  17. We won't. Our management is intent on growing markets like "Knoxville". They can't or won't compete anywhere.
  18. Clt has always been gross. I'm not convinced they actually clean the airport.
  19. Hms host is garbage. They have like a nationwide hold on airports concessions. Really annoying. But Charlotte is particularly bad with the still closed restaurants.
  20. This is one of the most irritating things about Charlotte. The bathrooms are regularly disgusting. The "brand new" bathrooms look like they're never cleaned. The soap dispensers installed during the renovation don't work, so they slapped cheap ones on the walls. The terrazzo floors in b and c look like they're 1000 years old and we're recently uncovered from an ancient volcano eruption by amateur archeologists. The moving sidewalks are ALWAYS off or broken. If they belonged to me I would be suing the crap out of the manufacturer or the maintenance company there is no excuse for something to be broken like that all the time. I remember when there was only one escalator down to e-gates or up and it was broken what a disaster that was hundreds of people will attempting to take the stairs and at the time only the one elevator available. With dozens of wheelchairs waiting to use it. In general Charlotte seems like it's barely glued together. Taxiing on the ramp there's always enormous potholes and patchwork everywhere and recently they don't even fix the potholes they just bolt a giant steel plate to the concrete. On a different subject does anyone have a clue why several of the concessions closed during the pandemic haven't reopened yet? They closed like half the Starbucks and now the lines are absolutely insane. Took me 40 minutes to get a cup of coffee a few weeks back.
  21. Price like that reflects flying AA out of a hub. Suspect it would be similar out of Atlanta with Delta being more $ than AA in that case. Could be wrong though.
  22. Might take a week with all the locks. I kid I kid. Scenic though
  23. A long long time ago, I did my first solo cross country flight in a 172 to Clarksburg from Allegheny County Airport in Pittsburgh. I am surprised there is enough demand there, but I suppose Morgantown is nearby and 28000 students might need to travel.
  24. The old spoke style terminals are a disaster. It's like they left them that way to discourage people from traveling through their airport. Every flight I've operated out of there we left passengers being because of the TSA situation.
  25. The gates in CLT are also a limiting factor on the "sharklet" airbuses. They have a larger wingspan and don't the existing gate areas. We get them sometimes. I see Max's fairly often recently. The "paid off" status of an airplane doesn't matter.
