  1. Just to remind everyone(with the green glass) of RDF's outstanding rendering from a while back.. I'm sure these are pretty time consuming, but i would like to see an updated one with placeholders for the Observer site and anything else that is missing. Maybe a view from South End.
  2. Makes sense, thanks for the insight RDF. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Gotcha, wasn't there an image of it floating around somewhere, now that you mention the grey? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I'm thinking that means lots of blue, which isn't necessary a bad thing, but the green was on point. That's disappointing!
  5. Last year, I had a chance to experience the Admirals club at CLT for the first time, as I was traveling to London in AA Business. The club itself was overcrowded and the choice of food was subpar, there is only so many blocks of cheddar cheese i can eat. I am hoping to experience JAL's Sky Suite sometime in the near future on a flight to Tokyo. Were you in business on JAL?
  6. With all due respect--I hope it doesn't mimic this design. They designed the 300 E. Pratt St project in Baltimore (I believe these renderings are up to date, but don't hold me to it) At least we get a sense of design.
  7. I'm in..moving from the Triad to Charlotte upon build out Looks great!
  8. Funny enough, Wichita is one of the case studies i was reading about in terms of implementation of glass jetways, since it's relatively new in terms of airport usage in the US. Glad to hear about the pleasant experience. I really like the way the Wichita airport turned out, simple, modern and user friendly.
  9. I hope everyone is having a nice day- I hear you on the temperature concern, but if CLT is in a position in the future to replace the jetways and has the necessary funding..in my humble opinion, the glass jetways are the way to go. ThysennKrupp makes a model called the Apron Drive Crystal Bridge which features fully glazed walls, that have a variety of options as to color, lighting, thermal and acoustics. JBT AeroTech also manufactures some great products like the JetAire Preconditioned Units which can be installed along with the Jetway upgrades to produce some potential savings. I don't know the technical aspects of the current jetways at CLT, so i can't make any substantial statements regarding substantial ROI's with this type of upgrade. Please see attachment for additional information regarding the Apron Drive Crystal Bridge. 3305_711201495913.pdf
  10. Fire codes restricting glass walled jetways have recently been lifted in the US. They are already a few airports that are now utilizing them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. A few pictures to add for whomever is interested to look at from my previous comment and trip thru CLT via AA First: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Hi All- Long time reader(10 or so year), 1st time poster... I traveled thru CLT this past weekend/weekday and have a few observations: The daily parking garage has seen better days, what looks modern from the outside, is super filthy on the inside. The glass is stained all over, the concrete is not in much better shape. It could really use a good cleaning. It took approximately 30 minutes to leave the parking garage area due to only one ramp being open for a total of 3 garage exits. I think the parking garage would also benefit from additional self-pay stations at the bus drop off. It seems that a lot of people do not want to wait in line and end up paying as they exit, creating further congestion. The shuttle waiting areas on the lower level of the Terminal have very poor signage, it's wrapped around the columns and very hard to see. A flag style format might be better suited to serve passangers. The guardrails that have been installed with the new entrance are super rusted, small detail, but is it that much more effort to paint it? 1897 Market is a great addition, i have found the breakfast and lunch to be fantastic. The airport in general is busting out the seams, the Terminal was super packed. This was Sunday at about 4pm. The low ceilings, carpeting, and outdated design does not help much. As previously stated, tipping is no longer effective in the bathrooms. There is specifically a sign to state this in each bathroom. First time landing on 36L! YVR(Vancouver Airport) would be a nice case study for CLT. I really enjoy traveling thru the airport, but feel as if it's playing catch up and when they do catch up, they will be behind again. I have reviewed all of the planned and current construction projects, I think the current rendering of the Terminal Lobby is in the right direction, but hoping that the final design a bit more modern and open. From my understanding, there is a chance that some or all of the current jetways will be replaced with glass versions. I will try to add a few pictures later on. Cheers!
