  1. Plenty of new examples of modern DMU regional lines in north America. See DART Silver line (U/C), Ottawa updated O-Train, Texrail (Fort Worth to DFW), Austin MetroRail, Arrow, eBART and of course the EMU version mentioned above for Caltrain electrification. These are all versions of Stadlers FLIRT and KISS trainsets. These lines offer more consistent service/intervals in both directions. They are/can be manufactured in the U.S (Salt Lake City), are available in various configurations and compliant with US rail regulations.
  2. So much has changed in such a short period since the Red line was last seriously studied. I'd hope they'd re-evaluate and consider a more regional rail approach rather than commuter rail approach. I see a ton of potential with Charlotte and the eventual Gateway station with regional rail. Alignments to Mooresville, Concord, Gastonia, Rock Hill and Monroe along existing corridors for example. I'd envision something more along the lines of Stadler Flirts or other DMU type systems. See Texrail, DART, Ottawa for current systems with similar rolling stock. Creating both inbound and outbound consistent transit availability could lay the groundwork for some great urban nodes and sensible densification radiating out from Charlotte. Some existing stops in local towns have good legacy bones already and could see great TOD where prudent. As with the Blue line, a review of zoning and long term station plans would be paramount to it's success with the lines being for residents, not just commuters.
  3. Was unaware there was a construction cam set up for this so posting for others who may have been in the same boat. https://app.oxblue.com/cameras/42d116b1f798f1dbd5d4cc9cda269e21?openlink=clarkconstruction/underconstruction
  4. Well... I came to advise that the CBJ reported on the video. I couldn't help but chuckle at the notion of it being "news worthy". Didn't expect this is what I'd find, lets get back to the thread topic here.
  5. Pleasantly surprised at the video actually. I expect what's put off some is likely centered around the sensationalist title and first few minutes or so, the balance of the video is reasonable and valid observations from an outside perspective it seems, nothing surprising. I have watched many of his videos so I am more accustomed to his style potentially. The south generally being defaulted to dumpster territory in several of his other videos generally helped set expectations and better understand where he comes from. Generally I believe he gave us a fair shake. Glad to ultimately see the positive takeaways and the eye opening South End experience. I've seen far worse accusations and criticisms of our city on this forum than anything levied in the video. Thanks for posting it and hope to see other content and perspectives spun off from the conference being in town.
  6. It should appear close in height to One Wells Fargo as opposed to BOAT, just slightly taller from the eyes perspective.
  7. I can echo this statement with our experiences as well. Coil steel (decking/bar joist) is outrageous right now, especially on lead times for bar joist which is putting many projects out towards the end of this year already just to get materials. Heard another mill was to be up and running in TX later this year which may start to relieve some pressure into next year.
  8. This is not unprecedented (not saying its right or not). This also took place with objections from the Democrats to certify the 2000, 2004 & 2016 elections. This is the means with which our elected officials are provided to seek further verification of our voting process (whether we like it or not).
  9. To make my position as understandable as possible given these comments: Legal course of action: No problem, Illegal course of action: Big problem. I hope we can agree.
  10. I stand by all of the above comments. Stating something is interesting does not a fool one make. Do you believe any of the above specifically was false, if so what and why and I'd be happy to debate courteously and intellectually without name calling. Don't conflate past comments about the potential pursuit of legal due process through the means of our established judiciary system with what happened yesterday. Apples and Oranges.
  11. Shocked by how close to the renderings this turned out, however this may be the result of your spectacular rendering esque photography. Kudos.
  12. Thank you for your well thought out response @bigacito. To be clear, I did not actually allege anyone specifically was attempting to shut down the due process of the judicial system, and agree Kermit does not likely have said power, I did however state that this was not a path to proceed down. Chastising such pursuits of judicial due process as treason or sedition is however an attempt to discredit, condemn and stifle such approaches which in turn could be viewed as an attempt to shut them down. I agree with you that it is highly unlikely for this to succeed as well.
  13. Quoting from it: "To safeguard public legitimacy at this unprecedented moment and restore public trust in the presidential election, this Court should extend the December 14, 2020 deadline for Defendant States’ certification of presidential electors to allow these investigations to be completed. Should one of the two leading candidates receive an absolute majority of the presidential electors’ votes to be cast on December 14, this would finalize the selection of our President. The only date that is mandated under the Constitution, however, is January 20, 2021. U.S. CONST. amend. XX" source: https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/sites/default/files/images/admin/2020/Press/SCOTUSFiling.pdf The allegations are an interesting read as well.
  14. If you read the lawsuit, its quite different than what many seem to believe and portray it as. Attempting to shut down the due process of our judicial system or decry treason of those who pursue lawful means of contest is not the right answer. Let it play out, hopefully the details will be looked into properly and we can move forward with greater confidence which benefits us all.
