Bump

Here is a pic from a few minutes ago. It appears the middle part of the building will be navy in color, with a base built up from purple siding, with a light blue finish, and then a white finish, and then stucco, and then dark blue paint. The outer areas are not as far along and appear to be the same purple siding, followed by white finish; and then horizontal bars that are now being covered by another light blue siding with dark blue writing (see bottom of building). I assume this light blue siding with dark blue writing will be painted a different color than the middle navy areas. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think they took it down so they could fire treat the steal. And, there was always one on the Park side, however I did not know there was on on the other side too.

I know this is beating a dead horse, but I wanted to vent to people who care. The Avid Xchange building just looks terrible from the I-77/Brookshire Freeway interchange. It really mars a beautiful shot of uptown. #lame Anyways...

For the site next to City Supply, hopefully a bottle shop, PM needs a true bottle shop like Good Bottle badly. Construction has started on this building.

Construction fencing has gone up around the CPCC site at Charlottetown and Elizabeth.

By my count, based on the bucket hoist elevator, the building elevator core has been poured up to the 22nd floor. So it may be a few more floors than 5-6 more to go...I cant remember the total count though.

Wow, huge news. Thanks for the heads up! In other news, Novas has finally finished siding their storehouse after putting up nice iron stairs. Also, site prep work/ potentially construction on the mixed use project going in in the old Tommy's pub site has begun.

Except, with Old Chatham, she asked for changes, changes were made, and then the other council members voted the same way she did--which was no. #sorrytobeatadeadhorse

She did the exact same thing with the Plaza Midwood Old Chatham Swim Club. She's terrible.

Is the delay I am talking about called a "Barnes Dance" in transportation jargon? Also, I was thinking about the same thing on the no right turn lights. The could come on during the delay and then turn off. Glad to hear others on this board think this is also needed.

Central and Plaza does not have a delay. If you are crossing Central from Harris Teeter on the East side of the intersection, the traffic turning left from Plaza onto Central (going East) has a green light during the same time that pedestrians have the right of way signal. I have almost been hit here several times as well. This is unacceptable in my opinion. Too much pedestrian activity at these intersections. There needs to be a delay.

The corner, vertical steel beams are starting to angle inward. Looks like about two floors now have angled corner beams.

Last night, crossing Central and Pecan from DQ to CVS, both I, my wife, 1 year old son, and another pedestrian were almost killed by a driver turning left from Pecan onto Central. We had the pedestrian signal, and the driver turning left was simply not paying attention--she sped up rapidly into the turn as soon as the light changed. A tenth of a second this way or that way, all four of us would have been seriously injured or killed. Why has the City and CDOT not installed a 20-25 second delay, once each light cycle, where all traffic has a red light so that pedestrians can cross at the following intersections: Central and Pecan, Central and Thomas, Central and Plaza (where we have also almost been run over, and where multiple people have been hit according to Police)? There is simply too much pedestrian activity at these intersections for there not to be a delay. In the coming days, I will be writing an email to the Mayor, CDOT, PMNA, PM Business District group, Commonwealth-Morningside NA, the Charlotte Observer, and other news organizations about this issue. This isn't just an issue in Plaza Midwood either. Its completely unacceptable.

@buzzcity, I didnt think RDF thought it would only be 6 floors. I was "thinking out loud" about how high it would be in the skyline.

Its amazing how a few floors makes the difference between tall and slender looking and squatty-looking.

From the renderings, I count an additional 17 floors to be added to the Epicenter with this project? Is that correct? If so, it appears they have another 11/12 floors to go?
