  1. It must have been a bad night, usually when I go the fans are intense, but stop short of this kind of mess. Seriously, I love the steel drums and wacky whaling inflatable arm tube man the uber passionate fans sneak in. Such a fun atmosphere.
  2. The restaurants that are worth a lick in downtown do stay open, and fairly busy. So if all these people live downtown, the question is where are they going to in order to eat?
  3. This is going to the norm for awhile sadly, there is just so much vacant office space right now up there. I used to deliver to Maitland Center and can speak to the reality of this. Unless values suddenly drop in downtown, expect these suburban office parks to fill quicker with downtown rebounding next.

I'm all for it going to Daytona as the only day each week I drive is my beach trip to Wilbur by the Sea. I live less than a mile from the Longwood station so I could just pack my cooler bag and hop on my beach cruiser.
  5. Can't express how much I love this town, so I'll just do this:
  6. This is true, there are areas of Atlanta's suburbs that feel downright rural, even in comparison to Central Florida. Now I do agree with how spread out the Orlando metro is, but think our sprawl looks and functions differently.
  7. Just looked on Google Earth, holy Creative Village Batman, that would be a great terminus for OBX, thus not needing to interact with the same tracks as SunRail and Amtrak.
  8. The OBX project would be a natural fit for Orlando's second commuter rail line. Lake County and Apopka certainly have the commuters to support this. Also, would the DT Orlando station be CSS or could a short spur be put in to LCS? Would be neat to see all those trains and busses coming and going.
  9. It's a complete boondoggle with so many dire consequences, both environmental and fiscal, I can't believe people were more upset about rail. This beltway is too large to be used as a bypass (ie: 285 in Atl), and does little more than encourage more sprawl we don't need.
  10. Here's a few I'd like to contribute: More to come...
  11. We're becoming a city of pools, that's not something you see on a satellite view of Chicago or NYC.
  12. I've been here for many years, just lurking and then returning to an old habit that I just can't seem to shake. What I like here is that instead of bickering about Orlando vs this, or Orlando sucks because, people actually talk about what's going on/should go on, etc. Anyways, always nice to see a familiar face when joining a new forum.
  13. Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the information. I'll take pictures of the progress since I work in the 801 building. It's not the highrise I was hoping for, but all things considered, it will complete the "urban wall" from Ivanhoe to Colonial if I'm not mistaken.
  14. Does anybody know when the last little chunk of Uptown will be developed. I work in the area and would love to see a highrise go in. Edit: And I'm not referring to 800 N. Orange which is already under construction, but rather the property between Colonial and Park Lake.
