They're coming (much to my displeasure--I hate 3-3-3 configurations, not to mention sitting backwards in business). When the 330-300s are retired in 2020, the 787-900 will replace them. The 777-200 might rear its ugly head, but the 300ER is doubtful, as they have first class seats and are used primarily for premium markets that have people willing to spend $7000 for them (JFK-LHR, DFW-HKG).

I myself hope the 787/777 stay far away from us. 3-3-3 configuration is mind numbing to me haha. I get the 789 will replace the A333s at some point. One can only hope the retirements keep getting pushed back. At least we’ll have the A332s.

Nice bump to daily on CLT-RAP next summer. That and BGR seem to be a real hit for AA in the summer seasonal routes out of here.

Disappointed that AA can’t make ABQ/TUS work out of Charlotte.

  2. Pretty smart on AA to re configure the gates on A con to park A330s. During the current summer ops 3 A330s park on the B concourse which take up 2 gates per A330. This will for sure alleviate B during the 4pm-7pm hours.

Will be curious to see how many A330s they can park on A. I'm guessing  3 or 4 potential A330 spots on A?

Also, CLT is getting Saturday SDQ service and seasonal Traverse City.

Not especially newsworthy or anything, but starting 1 October DL will add 2 mainline flights each day to JFK on a 717.

I seem to recall them doing mainline before on this route with an A319. I think they may have flown an A319 on CLT-LGA as well. Let's see if it sticks this time around.

DL has also been running the 717 already on CLT-JFK since mid summer, Saturday only. I believe they stopped it a few weeks ago, can't remember for sure though.

Number of Swedish firms in Charlotte region 38 with over 3000 employees

Number of Dutch firms in Charlotte region 50 with over 3700 employees

We need Amsterdam and Stockholm flights to be on the radar for service out of CLT

ARN would be interesting. Never thought of that one.  Would CLT-HEL make any sense? Tap into Finnair network in Helsinki. They practically run a shuttle service on HEL-ARN.

Even better if Finnair came to CLT...I'm dreaming now!:) Ya never know though.

The CLT-MUC schedule has been posted, which gives hope (IMO) to Lufthansa staying in CLT. AA appears to be going more for connections- with an early eastbound flight- while LH is going for local traffic.

EDIT: The flight has been removed for some reason.

Not only that but concourse D is more "open" at that time of arrival. FRA, MUC,and DUB come in at that time. DUB, as you know doesn't even need to park on D. Great schedule.

For S20 if we get any new A330 routes I bet they'll be added for that same 130ish arrival bank and 430ish departure bank.

Unlikely. An Alaska employee on another site (who is known to be pretty reliable) doubts that it is CLT. He stated that while AS continues to look at CLT and evaluate CLT for potential service, they continue to take a pass, and if they wanted to serve CLT, they would have done it a couple of years back when fuel/revenue wasn't a concern.

That doesn't surprise me one bit.

  7. With AA ending PHL-FRA/MUC for good and letting CLT take over the mission. I wonder if next summer we'll see an A333 on CLT-FRA. Maybe in the future we'll see 2 summer flights between CLT-FRA?

I'm still sticking with my BA return, year round MAD/CDG , summer seasonal AMS, MAN, VCE LIS, and KEF predictions from here. Should be exciting times ahead in Charlotte....

  8. My takeaways from that, if AA is trying to start up some more Europe here next summer. Even if it’s just 1 additional flight.

I’ll just throw some predictions because I love to speculate lol.

CLT-LHR 3 flights(mentioned before with potential of BA)

    CLT-AMS(A332)/MAN(A332)/VCE(A332)/LIS(752)KEF(752) (All being summer seasonal)

Just put a lot out there. KEF would be a super long shot considering PHL doesn’t have it yet. I do think PHL will get that route next summer. I put most of the routes as A330s. Mostly because of the cargo it can hold and in case of IROPS with the A330. Would be easier to swap planes incase of any maintenance issues with the A330s.

Moving on with logistics lol....AA will have access to those 7 gates on A concourse. Maybe they can make another A330 gate on the B concourse side closest to 18C. Then just tow planes over from D to free up those FIS capable gates like they do now.

I think AA parks up to 2 or 3 A330s on B? I know they take up 2 gates. Luckily, as mentioned above, AA will be getting 7 of the 13 gates on A. So that could compensate.

I’ve been in our customs area once, it was a nightmare when I was in it.  Not sure what could be done to make things flow better?

You think Frontier is actually gonna manage to consistently make flights?

Operationally they seem to do just fine with there CLT flights. Minus the PHL flight that gets delayed frequently..... that’s more of a delayed prone PHL airport than anything.

I guess, if you want to be negative Nancy, then sure... “they won’t make flights”.

Problem with F9 is they don’t build any slack into their schedule in case something goes wrong. Luckily, from what I’ve tracked this summer that hasn’t impacted CLT much.

In addition in November, PHL will go daily, and Austin  goes from 3 times a week to 4 times a week.  The current seasonal 4x weekly Providence flight appears to be gone for the winter though.

Frontier will have 4 flights on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday and 6 flights on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday

    Yep, saw that.

  11. Great add! Service levels matche right with CLT-MCO, which seems to be successful for F9. Hoping this route works! I think anything CLT- Florida on Frontier is a safe add. Wouldn’t be shocked if they did MIA at some point!

Intrested to see how AUS/PVD been doing, likewise to SAT which begins next week.

Aer Lingus is set to announce their new A321LR TATL destinations soon...here's to hoping we get the cut.

There should be plenty of space to accommodate them here at CLT, as they could operate out of Concourse A/A North as Irish flights are pre-cleared in DUB and SNN before arrival.

For sure. I also read that Aer Lingus is really close to entering the JV with AA/BA if I’m not mistaken? That could really help our case with them expanding to CLT versus an ATL or DTW.

  13. Fantastic news on the new route by AA. As others mention, not the royal stuff we wanted with BA or Aer Lingus. This is awesome and suprising for us to get Volaris! I personally didn’t see this coming but super excited to see this plane!

I’m guessing they’ll park on D4 or D6. Only say that because JetBlue use to operate out of those gates. Also, every time there’s a charter flight from Mexico they park on D6.

  14. With AA making a route announcement in a few weeks. Any speculation on what routes we might be getting, if any?

On the Europe side, I think we’ll get a 3rd CLT-LHR flight. My biased/hopeful opinion would be American operating 2 of the 3 flights on an A332 and British Airways flying 1 flight with a 777. Then in the winter AA would fly 1 flight and BA operate the other. I get the AA/BA have a JV. Being the 2nd largest up for AA, I think it’s fiting that BA comes back here.

Potential flight schedule could be something like 445(AA) 655(BA) and 1020(AA) departures.

Just having fun with the thought, wishful thinking probably.

^^ A temporary Starbucks while the permanent one is being built up there and it looks like another restaurant but the rest of the space not sure.  There was a set of restrooms up there too. Elevator and escalator up there.

Thanks and I like JetBlue too but just haven't flown anywhere they fly to nonstop from Charlotte.   Are they going to do a nonstop again to FLL?

You’re welcome! I love JetBlue, didn’t give it away did I? Haha

I really believe they will add FLL back. A few of my friends that work at JetBlue say it’s a matter of time. Again, that’s just galley talk. Take it as a grain of salt. I’m hopeful because they want to expand FLL to 150 flights in the next few years. CLT is one of the last few logical cities they haven’t connected with yet.

Business Insider had a recent article saying the 9 new gates CLT is building will allow AA to add 50 new flights which they want to do.

Well, AA is picking up 7 of the 13 gates on the current Acon. So that sounds about right. We have 9 banks of flights a day so technically IF all 7 of those gates are fully utilized in every bank, that number could be up to 63 additional flights.

Regardless, this is much needed for AAs growth here in Charlotte.
