I wouldn't expect TPAC to have ton of street activation in the traditional sense, but I would think something like what the Ryman has done with their box office/merch store along 4th Ave would be acceptable.

Because TPAC will be set back from the river (behind the Bridge Building) this wouldn't be possible, but some public accessible space like the Oslo Opera House (designed by Snøhetta) would be great.

There appears to be opportunity baked into the parcel for TPAC, but it will be a wait and see game for it.

I think the downgrading of the MCM being more of an "egress path" is a loss from the TPAC perspective. But who knows, maybe the design team will have something that surprises us (pretty please lol)

I was recently in the Oslo Opera House and it is magnificent...the ramps you see are heavily used by the public for sun bathing/picnics etc and the building is always open for use of the restrooms.  I would hope the new TPAC could be something like this or at least unique.

  2. Flew into BNA last night around 6 pm and the traffic in the pick up lanes was a total  cluster f__-k! There are four lanes of pick up traffic outside baggage claim, then four lanes on the upper level for dropping passengers off.....each of the four lanes merges into two on each level, then those two lanes on each level, merge into two.  It took my ride one solid hour after arriving to finally pick me up and another hour to get to Green Hills once I was in the car!!!! The planning on this part is a complete disaster with little apparently that can be easily fixed.  The new terminal is beautiful, it appeared each restaurant was packed to capacity on D concourse and in the main terminal, but the ingress and egress is about as poorly planned as can be.

I know I’ll probably get reprimanded for this, because the first amendment apparently only applies to certain people. But I tried being polite and respectful making a statement with enough overtone to get my opinion out. But sense it seems that some might just not get it, I’ll be a bit more open. I was saying that the people from City Lights are trying to use the legal system and it’s undeniable snails pace to piss off the development companies to the point that hopefully they pull the projects. And my reference to another well know individual, was of course a nod to Donald Trump who is also using the same legal system to his advantage to prolong any true justice be served. And of course it’s the same legal system that he states is deplorable and he will get rid of asap, in true hypocritical fashion. I apologize , I don’t want to make this a political thing and it’s definitely not my intention to go any further. This is a development forum and I will keep it that way

    Totally agree with you!!!!

  4. Flew in last night from Florida, the traffic into the terminal was so backed up, my ride could not get through and had to exit at Old Hickory and turn around.  The drop off and pick up areas are poorly planned and with the hotel and garages, not sure how it can  be fixed easily.  The ring road around the garages into the drop off and pick up area were bumper to bumper and barely moved at all.

Not sure if there is a thread on Harding Town Center by St. Thomas West on Harding pike, but the gas station by Publix is gone and the Taco Bell posted on the building that they’re closing soon. I wonder if these will be roped into that project.

It is my understanding from an administrator at St. Thomas is they are taking over much of that area up to the Publix shopping center.  Plans include a connection and expansion to the Richland Creek Greenway and then some additions to the hospital long range.

  6. I'm a PSL and season ticket holder and we just got the prices for the PSL's and season tickets in the new stadium and they are EXTREMELY high. My season tickets in the current stadium are $690 (40 yard line mid upper deck) and a similar seat in the new stadium would be close to triple that.  My PSL was $1200 in 1999 and the PSL for this would be near $4000 .  I've sat with many of the same fans for 25 years and have no doubt that many of them will not be able to afford the new stadium.  It will be interesting to see how it goes, plus we don't have a firm answer on how much credit we will get for our current PSL'.s.  Will try and find the schedule and post, seemed to have deleted it as I was in shock.

Bingo this is the main reason.  All these apartments fit 1-2 people and the larger families 2-6 people move to areas where they can get a bigger home/townhome whatever and that is mainly in the suburban counties.  Charlotte which is in Mecklenburg is seeing population growth slower than the surrounding suburban counties which are more affordable and have larger homes.  But in Mecklenburg county the home of Charlotte is much more apartment and townhome construction and prices are higher than the suburban counties.  This is true even of the Nashville metro area though Williamson County is very expensive you can still get more more your money there than in Nashville for the most part.  Here in Charlotte I worked with 2 customers both from Brooklyn who moved here.   The couple with kids moved to the suburban county as a family of 4 and the couple with no kids moved into Charlotte (2 people)

I was just in Charlotte and was super impressed with the many many impressive condo's and apartments that were far more substantial looking and architecturally attractive than what I see here.  My friends are in Myers Park and it is quite impressive.  The Mint Museum and Knight Theater are great as well.

It's a shame because there are some gems mixed in there and in Cherokee Park, not to mention the institutions like West End Middle and MBA (their latest addition notwithstanding)

I can't believe they got by with this, it looks like a suburban office building, not residential.

When some of the faux stucco crap built this decade is demolished and forgotten, Rokeby will remain standing proud on West End Avenue.

Don't disagree, but they are under going a massive renovation that from what i have heard resulted in a huge assessment from the owners.  Needed but many are VERY unhappy.

Elsewhere in Midtown,  Flatiron has also closed.   It was perfectly fine, but never seemed to catch on.

Along with the empty space that was Caviar and Bananas, and I think all of the open retail space on the street level at the new 2010 West End building,  a lot of Midtown vacancies at the moment.....

I hate to hear that about "FlatIron as it was always good and had reasonable prices.  I will pay what seems to now be the new norm in Nashville, entrees in the $35 to $55 but it was great to have a place to sit down, with a drink and pay under $25 for a good entree.  Parking may have been the downfall.

The AT&T Switching Building's brick exterior is getting a lot of attention.

I understand from a member of the Metro Arts Commission that the A T & T building will have a mural that will incorporate an historical view of the area.  I have not seen the proposal but understand from this member that she is very excited and feels will be well received instead of the plain red exterior that was there.
