I NEED TO SEE THIS BUILDING
-
I love the orientation of the hotel... that's a stunner.
dmillsphoto - orientation in what sense?
-
35, wow! Not necessarily taller, but this will have more floors than the AT&T building, no?
Yes - the AT&T building is 33 stories.
-
Looks like a JW Marriott. There's a rendering posted as well. Looks pretty sweet.

Saw this video as well after watching the first one dmillsphoto posted. Kinda gives an idea of how much of an impact the structure will have in this area. Gotta say I'm impressed.

So if this is the same lot they're building the parking garage at...will we see a new rendering considering there's less land to build on?
Also, if this project ACTUALLY happens and the tower is ACTUALLY 60 stories...
I might cry.

I think that location is zoned 20 stories. As far as I know, a height variance has not been requested, and according to sources, all of the zoning is in place.
uuuuuggghhhhh

Come on, Green Hills residents... time to rise up!
Is this spot where there's currently some sort of construction going on now next to/behind Dillards and the movie theater? And when is the addition to the actual mall itself supposed to happen?
-
I will say and this is speculation, that a JW Marriott will be announced in one of the existing proposals or one we have not heard about.
I thought we had established (somewhat) that the Turnberry site was going to be a JW Marriott?
-
Gotta say--I'm a little bit on the fence about this one. I know we'll never be a skyscraper city--at least not any time soon--but I had gotten really optimistic about something really tall here after rumors of a towering Four Seasons or the like. This is a very attractive building, though...just not the height I was hoping for.
I'll survive.
I would have to agree. I'm a little disappointed with the height, but I guess it is what it is.
Did you guys notice that the exterior design of the hotel is somewhat similar to that of the Twelve Twelve building?
-
Hmm...other than removing the umbrellas from the roof top terrace, what design changes did they make?
Yeah...I don't see any difference from the previous rendering?
-
This might be a cookie cutter tower, and its planned location might be a little off, but I am not mad about this coming to Nashville.

This just could be a clean-up permit, and then he will operate this as a surface lot until he is ready for the apartment building.
I was about to say...I thought this project wasn't starting any time soon...?
-
Correct. The adjacent brick building on the far right in the pictuer is Bosco's on Hillsboro Rd in the Village. It's been a slow to evolve project.
^ Agreed - I feel like this project has moved at a glacial pace.

^ I went to the Flipside on 12th last Saturday night around 7:30pm. It's very loud and you almost have to yell to talk to someone. Drinks are good, the food is decent, but I could've just ordered the wrong thing. I made mention of the noise level to our waiter, and he recommended coming back during the week in the afternoon. Not sure I'll be back anytime soon though...
My opinion, FWIW.
-
Which spot are you talking about?
Sorry! The proposed hotel that would go in/around Printer's Alley. I think they'd be a good fit.
-
Straying off the topic (sort of), I have a relative who works in the hotel industry and he has heard that the Ace Hotels are looking at this spot? Has anybody else heard this?
-
In the picture, this development looks HUGE...but when you drive by the construction site, it's hard to see how this is all going to fit on that plot of land. Plus, isn't the new Bank of America kind of getting the shaft? If this thing is as big as it looks, you won't even be able to see the bank from the street unless you're up by Levys...
-
Work will not start on 1818 Church this year.
*eye roll*
for some reason this doesn't surprise me...

Mark Bloom is aiming for a five star hotel in the Gulch.
"'It would have to be in the super-luxury category, or we're not going to do it,' Bloom told me."

Even though I'm in pharmacy school at Lipscomb, I'll never forget my days in undergrad at BU. They're doing an incredible job with this campus. Hats off to President Fisher and the leadership at the university!
-
This might have already been mentioned, but have we heard which hotel is taking residence in this building?
-
I know I am relatively new to this forum and I'm real hesitant to say anything, but I joined this forum to learn of developments and other things coming to Nashville, not continually read people arguing back and forth about off-topic issues. It's getting to the point where I really don't care to be a part of/read this forum any more. I'd rather stick to the Business Journal and the Post to get my info.
If anything, can we take this argument over to a different thread?

Can I assume from this photo that this building is going to be really long and slender? The plot for the building doesn't seem to be very wide.

However, I am a little disappointed with only 30 stories...
