  1. I'm not particularly a fan of sidewalks that are connected to busy roads, e.g. the Perkins Rowe/Willow Grove section of Perkins. A 2-3' gap between the shoulder and sidewalk make a world of difference and it's a perfect place for landscaping and a tree line, like you said. Has anybody on here walked in that area? Does it feel safe?

  2. Its just odd and annoying to me that they would take the time, effort and MONEY to build a safer road, or "boulevard," with a raised median, but not go just little further and provide some safer walkability.

usually in areas of town that predate the 1950's.
How old is Nicholson and Highland?
  3. Nicholson Drive going directly through LSU is the primary route for trucks getting from the bridge to the plants in the south. This detour would actually take trucks OUT of campus.

  4. ...and since everybody, including me, wants Nicholson to be walker friendly road, I always thought it would safe to make an LSU Detour for trucks around campus. Send them to River Road and let them take Skip Bertman or Gourrier back to Hwy 30.

  5. I was too blinded by the shock of this announcement to even think of the traffic impact that many jobs will have on that area. Its giving me nightmares already. Ideas?
If the east/west roads remain two lanes, what do you all think about having one of these eguduhe9.jpg at either the base of the I-10 off ramp for Nicholson or where the "Main Street" of the Water Campus hits Nicholson? I'm disappointed that they are making two major intersections so close together, one for the campus and one for the off ramp. There will probably be two separate stop lights.
  6. Thank You Rickyb83. Wow! That's a lot of circles in such a short space. I'd need some practice getting through that obstacle course. Haha! I know it sort of defeats the purpose of a roundabout to have a stop light next to it. It depends on how far apart the intersections are.

  7. I've never seen a roundabout as an interstate ramp, however, interesting to see how that would work.
6ara7epa.jpg This type of interchange is being used increasingly in states like Wisconsin. This one is on the Watertown Bypass in Watertown, WI. They are very attractive and don't require the overpass to be rebuilt. They can be retrofitted.
