Does anyone know whats going on Hwy 16? Between the areas circled in red below. They have been cutting the center grass area out and putting what appears to be turn around areas. They are also doing work off the sides of the roads near the bridges. Does anyone know why they are doing any of that?

These pictures are from this week.

The demolition crew is making steady progress on removing the walls around the building. They use an excavator to break the walls into small pieces, which are then loaded onto a dump truck for disposal. The building in the back has also been cleaned out. The workers pushed the trash from the floors onto the ground, then loaded it into dumpsters and hauled it away.

Not many pictures this week. They have been working on removing the below wall sections. They are doing them one by one and lifting them up and over the building using the large crane as seen in the 2nd and 3rd picture. The 1st picture below is from google streets to give an idea of what they are currently removing. If anyone has pictures from that side, that would be great. They cut down the trees on College st.

Like ricky_davis_fan said above. I have heard the hotel was going to be put at 401 S College st. BUT I heard this 6 years ago. That's when they started getting the third party vendors to start getting their data equipment out of the 401 building. (not sure if everyone knew, but 401 was/is a data center that had every ISP there.) There is still a company in the building as of today so they have to move out (which has been in progress for 5 years). Then like already mentioned the new duke tower has to be completed before all the people move out of the buildings.

They were installing some windows in the background of my picture, also the guys on the new crane just standing around waiting for the next piece. These were taking earlier this morning.
