Orlando No. 1 again for pedestrian deaths
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
People complain when you reduce traffic lane to put in a bike lane, people complain when you dont build parking for the arena, people complain building is too big when you increase density, they rather spend billions on highway than trains.....this is Orlando....

This article from the Orlando Weekly confirms that, no matter how noble the intentions of the Yard’s developers, the dynamic of the neighborhood is about to change:
For the better....

Is this going to fit into "closing up Magnolia for pedestrian only" plan?

Good for them. Since Orlando is not showing they are doing anything new to push the boundary, lets OC take the lead. They have the numbers to make any venues successful down there.

Sorry, the Daly Museum is a destination that worth driving to....OMA is not. Build a fancy building downtown and start from scratch and do it right.

I like Winter Park, does that help? Morse museum is a small museum done right.

They let Hedo go and signed Vince.
Now, they have a bunch of half talented basketball players that probably would not start in other team playing for us.

Instead of asking for Orlando Museum of Arts... he can build an outdoor museum himself with so much land out there like the Vigeland park.
I do not even go to OMA in Orlando and sure would not drive to Lake Nona to visit it. It is a terrible museum.

Dont forget the Orlando Pride and Solar Bears that nobody cares.
I think they are trying to build up the facilities and when the teams (Magic & OC) are good, they can cash it with the amenities. No point on letting Stonewall making all the $$$

Devos practically own and built the entire Grand Rapids

The one thing that the Magic is not good at is "rebuilding".
Hopefully this is the start of a larger urban district such as Water Street Tampa with the Green development next door, Bags HQ and Orlando City will start developing their land.

Is this one of those PR thing that I should not believe?

In this country, using bus as transportation is after thought and bike is recreation. Other countries, bus is an important form of transportation and so are bicycles.

Over priced. 3 empanadas for 10 dollars with no tables service & I have to eat with plastic utensile/ paper tray is a bit much for me. This food truck craze thing is just crazy.

Even in TOD, the design cant be anymore pedestrian unfriendly.

It is in the middle of nowhere and the design is nothing urban.
I would be more interested if
1. Magaritaville building an urban enclave.
2. It is right next to downtown

What is wrong with Walgreens across the street?

It will be anti-climatic if the "national focus tenant" is CVS instead of a fancy restaurant.

Renovations slated for 105-year-old downtown Orlando building; nightclub to shutter
"One of downtown's oldest buildings is about to receive a facelift and a new, nationally focused tenant lineup.
Orlando-based local internet marketing company Launch That LLC is planning a ground-floor renovation of the 105-year-old One South Orange building, which it owns through related entity One South Orange Development LLC. Construction on the 6,500 square feet of space, which includes storefronts on Orange Avenue and Central Boulevard, will start in 2019 and tenants are expected to move in late next year or early 2020."

Behind the wall was supposed to be the County Administration highrise building in the early rendering.

The residents in Ivanhoe Village complained that it was too tall and "not fitting in with the neighborhood" - basically NIMBY'd it to make it shorter. The developers were trying to make it taller, and apply for a variance for more density by making it mixed-use and some office retail.
Bungalower reported a couple of times on the approval process and the neighborhood fighting the proposed project last year:
https://bungalower.com/2017/03/21/broadstone-lakehouse-request-density-bonus-deferred/
"Eight people spoke against the project at the board meeting, including Gordon Spears and Michael Rizzo of the Lake Formosa Neighborhood Association, and College Park residents as well. A Change.org petition had collected 310 signatures at the time of this post."
https://bungalower.com/2017/04/18/mpb-approves-nine-story-residential-tower-lake-ivanhoe/
"Orlando resident Tom Young submitted a letter to the City, in regards to his opposition to the plan."Ironic that they use change.org when they are the one that resist changes. If they don't want highrises, why live so close to the city center?
