  1. If they can build underwater robotic parking in Holland, we can do it here!
  2. I've often thought that Target should develop a smaller boutique store model that can be introduced in older "main street" towns where the demand for discount products exists, but the space for a suburban-model store is not. The smaller Target could be called Bullseye.
  3. Yeah the rendering in the document was posted on this site some time ago. The rendering of a mostly white building that everyone has been complaining about in the Fort Norfolk Plaza thread is unfortunately the most current (though hopefully not for long). What a great document that was! It certainly shows that Norfolk is on the up-and-up. There were some projects there that I didn't know about. Although I was disgusted to see the pic of a Super Wal-Mart! I was intrigued by the bits of info about the Broad Creek revitalization. Has anyone been out there (or better yet have any pics) and can discuss what's going on there now? I once lived in Ingleside so Broad Cr is close to the old neighborhood.
  4. Using Crown Vics it's no wonder they have difficulty distinguishing themselves from cabs. If you Google image search "2007 Crown Victoria" this is one of the first images that pops up... LOL Are there many/any limousine services using the notorious black Lincoln Town Cars serving ORF?
  5. I'll clue you in on a dark secret in transit. ALL transit systems require subsidy. There is no transit system on Earth (that I'm aware of) that makes a profit or completely pays for itself using fare revenue and advertising. Norfolk's LRT will be no different. What makes or breaks a transit system is whether or not the subsidy is worth the return. If LRT can reduce SOV trips, spur land (re)development, and keep or attract employers, then it is worth the subsidy. If LRT fails to draw the ridership needed to do those things, then it is a failure and not worth the subsidy.
  6. I agree. While construction of one building may cost more and cause inconveniences during a year or two of construction, in the long run the city stands to gain much more from consolidation of the courts. Not only would one building be taller (which I think most people here are rooting for), but remaining portions of the civic complex can be divided and sold off for private development--a move that will increase tax rateables and more than make up for the additional construction cost.
  7. Quick drive-by near the George Washington Bridge, taken from Central Avenue in Fort Lee, NJ.
  8. Well one improvement would be to place this thing in a suburban office park where you can shroud it with pine trees so that it's hardly seen at all!
  9. The BEST thing about this is that it will be DIRECTLY on the Ft Norfolk waterfront!! It will be a very visible part of the Ft. Norfolk/Atlantic City waterfront skyline! Sigh, I'm gonna go cry now.
  10. vdogg, the link to the story about PB et other consultants won't work (at least not for me). I'm interested in seeing who the 16 subs are.
  11. Really? It looks like the entire backdrop was a photoshop scale. I was ready to compliment your good work with the lasso tool! It came out looking great. Have you thought about adding an inspirational message or caption to it?
  12. It looks pretty high (by NJ standards). I'd guess it's High Point in Sussex County?

    Norfolk Pictures

WOW! I love these shots, especially the skyline shots from Portsmouth and the various in-town vistas. I think Norfolk is becoming so polished and clean that it's a pleasure to see the new skyline draped in dark gray clouds!
