  1. Great photos everyone. I love days like this. It is so funny Rhino, I have driven past that corner countless times and never remember that tan building. I must always be looking the other way or something. Not that I am saying it is a great piece of architecture or anything, just that I would not have recognized that as GR unless you told me...
  2. Well, I went to McFadden's on Ionia last night. I wont go back. Had the Rueben that was advertised a corn beef "stacked high". It was maybe an 1/8" high. I left hungry. I'll go somewhere else next time...
  3. Happy 2006 everyone. This board definitely makes my life more interesting. Thanks UPers!
  4. has anyone tried the new Mexican place in Eastown yet? If so, good food? Prices?
  5. I heard the Donald will build a smaller version in Holland, you know, Tulip City and all.
  6. Maybe they are trying to create a new tourist attraction for "out of towners". The Great Wall of East Grand Rapids. Known to those "in the know" simply as "The Great Wall"
  7. I know that Jade Pig has been doing some good things recently, but it is going to take a lot of something to make that wall look good.
  8. You are still missing out on the Seven Seas authentic Mexican seafood (garlic fried whole fish) at Adams and Kazoo.
  9. Dadoff (my Russian friend) Yes, I heard the same rumor, saw the initial plans and would have to kill you if I told you any more. Will make everyone happy, I believe Signed, Anonymous
  10. Grand Raggidy, isn't your name Tony? Hmmmm
  11. Let's just hope that Gerald Ford doesn't kick the bucket anytime soon. Would hate to have the eyes of the world on GR and have only a crumbling infrastructure to show them. Frankly, I find it appalling that our "front door" (the river) is still a mess in August, when the snow jam was here in February? How long does it take? Where are our priorities?
  12. This is the key to a successful downtown, in my opinion. We need to use a city like San Antonio and the Riverwalk as an example. Every building with frontage along the river could be developed with restaurants, clubs, galleries, coffee houses. Festive lighting, landscaping and paving could make this the draw that turns around downtown. In another thread, someone posted a view from an airplane of GR and the amount of vacant land along the river is shocking. We have the huge parking lot (thanks DeVos) just south of Fulton, across the river and under the bridge we have abandoned warehouses...come on Grand Rapids! Get a handle on your best asset and maximize it!
