Emmy award winning production company is moving its headquarters from Los Angeles and Nashville to the former Triad Stage building in downtown Greensboro.

“The company has taken space in the former Triad Stage building in downtown Greensboro and is finalizing construction for its offices, state-of-the-art editing suites and a high-end screening room for clients and artists. The company has also opened its new 6,000-square-foot logistics hubs just minutes away from its downtown headquarters,” the release states"

7 Cinematics produces things like concert films, live-music broadcasts and livestreams sent around the world. They have worked with artists like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Post Malone, John Legend, Dead & Company and Kiss.

The company says the move will allow it to centralize operations and maintain its nearby warehouse/logistics hub filled with production equipment.

The building will serve as a music venue as well which will bring in major music artists like the names mentioned above.

This is actually huge news for Greensboro's (and the Triad in general) music scene. It's been lacking for many years.

  2. Just a few things I've noticed while driving around Greensboro.

Greensboro Day School is building a multi-million dollar student union center on the back side of the school, Lake Brandt Rd side. They've already demolished several houses and have laid down foundation for the building.

On the corner of N Church St and Pisgah Church Rd, they have been moving dirt and installing concrete drainage pipes after demolishing a few houses all the way to the corner on Dixon St. Not sure what is going in there, but its a decent sized plot of land. Not even an 1/8th of a mile away, Roy Carroll will be demolishing the old abandoned Jesse Wharton Elementary School (recently called The Twilight School), and is building a BeeSafe. I know that's not the most exciting news, but after you see the old school with all the overgrowth and graffiti, anything will be an upgraded over that eyesore. Maybe Carroll is building apartments at the other spot on Church? and they will connect? Seems like ample space is there to make it happen.

DH Griffin is demolishing part of the Sears Building in Friendly Shopping Center.

Large new industrial and warehouse park coming to south Greensboro.   Toyota suppliers should be very interested in these buildings.

Cushman & Wakefield to Lease Southeast 85 PowerPlex in N.C. (commercialsearch.com)

A very large warehouse for lease on the southwest corner of W Market and Guilford College Rd was just built too. Will probably be used by suppliers for companies at the Airport.

Whataburger will rapidly be expanding into North Carolina. The first location will be Charlotte followed by Greensboro, then Fayetteville. The company just announced plans for a location on North Main Street in High Point. Charlotte and Greensboro will have two locations.

    The Greensboro locations will be:

    4409 West Wendover Ave and

    2700 Koury Blvd.

The Koury Blvd location appears to be under construction now because there is a lot of prep digging going on at that site which is rumored to have a Starbucks as well.

Just drove by there yesterday. I can confirm that there is construction on some type of fast food establishment looking building. Perfect size for a Starbucks.

It's grand... it's old. But I honestly dont know why anyone cares. It's Roy Carroll's house to do with what he pleases.

From what I can tell, the only thing significant about it is that other very wealthy people lived there previously. There are hundreds of homes throughout the city of similar age still standing. The only difference is that their previous owners were in different tax brackets.

This story is a complete nothing-burger.

I tend to agree, its not like it was one of the very old houses in the older neighborhoods in Greensboro. And the historical significance of this one was very minimal.

  6. Since the condemnation of the site on March 1st, 2024, the owners of the N&R site, Berkshire Hathaway, have committed to demolishing the two smaller builds on site, while the larger building is being prepped for demolition sometime in the future. With hopes that a cleared lot will increase the marketability of the site. (Ryan Co. could possibly re-enter the market for the site).

Pretty sure the ownership took over in 2021 (or VERY early 2022) and mentioned plans then. They rehashed a story last year (just before the season IIRC) that was virtually identical to one posted around the time they took over. Nothing since.

It has been more than 2 years and they haven't released as much as a general idea of what they plan. I know two years isn't THAT long... but when they teased new plans last year only to put out a virtually identical story to the one they put out a year earlier... We'll see.

You're right, it was early 2022, January, to be exact. Still, its only been 2 years. Let him get his feet wet a bit. He has been racking up partners recently. Cone Health is now on board.

How odd.  The stretch of US421 from Winston-Salem west to Wilkesboro thru Yadkin County could already be designated an Interstate….as it is already limited access and up to grade.  The stretches from Greensboro to Liberty, and Siler City to Sanford are not upgraded, according to the NCDOT.  Nor are portions thru Harnett and Sampson Counties, which are not even four lanes.  This announcement would require years of work before designation.

Not really odd when you factor in that W-S west to Wilkesboro doesn't have billions of dollars of investment from Toyota, who is looking for an upgraded highway towards the port of Wilmington for their business dealings.

The old AP store is about to be torn down at MLK Dr and South Elm Street.

These 7 story lofts are supposed to be built in its place.

This project needs to happen! It would solidify that intersection and create more re/development! This would increase the need for another grocery store in that area.

  10. The Northeastern corner of Pisgah Church and Lawndale will see redevelopment by Koury Corporation. The L shaped strip mall where the old (original) Fresh Market, Flamingo Road used to be, currently occupied by Delicious Bakery and Natural Dog, etc. will be vacated by the end of 2023. Natural Dog will move their business to 2431 Battleground Ave. where Omega Sports just closed their doors. The New Koury Redevelopment is planned, "to tie the properties along Lawndale and Pisgah Church into a rebranded 73-acre, contiguous, mixed-use development with multifamily housing, office, retail, restaurants and a parking garage." No timeline for the completion of the project is in place yet.

Koury Corporation is one of the most successful development companies in Greensboro and has never done anything downtown. Joe Koury was a man of the "suburbs". Just think where downtown would be today if they had invested as much in downtown Greensboro as they have in other parts of the city. After Joe Koury died the company lost its vision for the city and today mainly builds small industrial sites and owns a lot of commercial properties. They haven't been involved with grand projects for the city since Joe Koury died. Roy Carroll is the Joe Koury of today's generation. The difference is he has invested heavily in downtown as well as in other areas of the city.

I know the story, my Father worked under Koury before he died. I also spent a few holidays with the Craft brothers, which one of them is married to one of the Koury Sisters. It's just hopeful thinking! loi

Starbucks will construct a new location on the corner of Edgeworth and Market, where the old eyesore abandoned Hardee's used to be. I think this is a good use of that space and will possibly attract other corporate chains to do business downtown too (which is something Greensboro doesn't have much of).

The Downtown Starbucks at Edgeworth and Market is now Open!
