  1. Can't be part of the U Club if your skin is too dark.
  2. You think that's bad? Try driving in Shanghai!
  3. It is apples to oranges to compare Orlando to a city that offers a lot of perks we couldn't even contemplate coming here in the next 20 years or that has mass transportation or In-N-Out Burger (that alone makes LA traffic worthwhile). Now Tampa is an apt comparison if what you say is true. Had you started with that I probably would not have said anything. Just so everyone is aware it appears the City attempted to fill in some of the potholes in the last few days. Still witnessed a pedistrian get drenched when an asshat drove too quickly over one this weekend.
  4. Best not to waste your time with lengthy posts giving me advice about my attitude because as a general rule of thumb I don't listen to tidbits about self betterment from people on an internet forum about downtown development. If I'm disliked by all three dozen people that post on here, especially the ones with financial ties to certain of these projects that go out of their way to polish a turd they are involved in and like every post criticizing my posts, I think I can still sleep at night. Comfortably. And there is no amount of effort that can make the comparison between our traffic and traffic in LA anything but a nonsensical deflection. Plenty of other cities to choose from that are actually logical.
  5. Classy or not the point is true. It's absolutey mindblowingly stupid how people constantly point to issues cities 10 to 20 times the size of Orlando face in an effort to try and rebut valid criticisms. It's the epitome of apples to oranges. The stupidiest one has to be "you think traffic is bad in Orlando, try living in LA", but how roads are maintained up in Boston is pretty close to being up there. I'm waiting for someone to make the Chicago comparison for our growing crime rates here.
  6. Orlando is a 10th of the size of Boston. Only a tard would hold the two to the same standards. It was piss poor planning as usual.
  7. The city majorly screwed up by not paving the left side of Pine Street at Rosalind before allowing Modera to block half of it off. Massive potholes down the whole stretch. Anyone with a brain work there?
  8. Maybe third-tier Miami new construction. But Miami is not in central Florida and I recall significant pushback on here at one time for proposed projects that tried to bring the Miami look to Orlando.
  9. Care to elaborate because I can't think of a single thing it resembles. Considering it is a clone of their Atlanta project if it did resemble anything it would be purely coincidental.
  10. People watch at the UC? You get more action going to a morgue!
  11. Just because I am skeptical that it will happen given the timing and the fact they are resorting to charging below market rates to fill it up does not mean I don't want it to go up. I hope it does, just not holding my breath.
  12. Didn't work out for the hotel that was supposed to be built in front of the DPAC that already had a flag lined up.
  13. I don't mind the look of this, actually quite like what I envision it would do to that space. But do we really think a hotel has any hope of actually going up in that area, especially if we are to believe the hype that Tremont is actually going to happen?
  14. 1 S. Eola you mean right? 201 S. Eola was to be the sister building of 101 S. Eola IIRC.
  15. I wonder how these will be priced. Those three lots next to each out did not come cheap. To have to share that cost only among 6 townhouses is a big burden. I imagine these will be priced even higher than the Brownstones that aren't selling.
  16. Yeah I love the design but the detached garages for the two end units (i.e., the most desirable units) is a very stupid move. You get to pay more to walk to your car uncovered.

Great food and drinks, but unless they are getting free rent or independently wealthy can't see it lasting past the end of the year unfortunately. I don't imagine any restaurants in the complex other than Hamburger Mary's make any money - Tavern just closed and Ceviche is giving up the auditorium.
  18. Unfortunately yes. It's sad but true.
  19. I still would be very surprised if they secured financing as of now considering the current market. However, they are doing a good job slow-rolling it and making baby steps forward, especially compared to the other two apartment highrises that were seeking approval at the same time, which by now everyone has to realize were decoys to sell the underlying land. It will all come down to demo - you know they won't knock down the current building unless it is 100% a go. At this point with the slowdown I am for this going up because it might be the last "high rise" we see after Citi Tower. Rather see a hideous high rise attached to a racist club than just a racist club and a parking lot.
  20. I don't know how often you drive that road, but I often see cars stopping for pedestrians wandering across to Lake Eola, which makes sense given the fact that across the street is a main entrance to the park. I also see cars routinely zooming down that section of Central 10-15 miles over the speed limit, making it a very dangerous place for people to cross without a crosswalk. And I've seen at least three wrecks at that intersection in the last half year. And how would it mess up flow? There is a stop sign one block down and a stoplight one block the other way and it's 30 mph. It's hardly the Autobahn!
  21. Yeah it is going to make Skyhouse look like a beauty. At least this time we can blame other people for how it turned out.
  22. Samsara is a wonderful concept, but was very unimpressed with the execution of the construction when I was shopping for a pre-construction unit and toured the open house. Seems that is a theme with this developer from what I've heard - beautiful to look at but good luck with the quality. Kinda the exact opposite of the Brownstones. Would be fine if the prices where about 25% lower, but absurd prices to charge for amateur hour construction.
