I love that really strange photo of the "meatmarket-in-a-wall", ther first photo from the Richmond District series

333 market street
mckesson headquarters, one post street
ritz carlton residences towering over wochovia
Beautiful shot (First one) of one of our handsomest scyscrapers in stainless steel and glass

Very tasteful, yet has an eerie quality, kind of David Lynch like

I can't believe this building is in San Francisco. It rather looks like Paris, or Barcelona...
-
Very tasteful picture postcards of un-touristy areas of San Francisco!

I recommend Zahc's youtube presentation to which link leads.
It's shows the wonderful caleidoscope of moods, colors, light, buildings, streetcars, people of all races and sexes and persuasions, that San Francisco is. I love this city, and Zahc's pictures keep inspiring me to go out and experience it all anew.

Great pics of the new Academy of Sciences Steinhart aquariums. Don't you love the giant Northern California tank, that's built around the corner, which you capture in your photo.
The angel fish in the second photo are very beautiful. They're not the ones commonly kept in our aquariums (pterophyllum scalare) but these are the pterophyllum altum angel fish , that live in the wild in the amazon area. They're a bit higher and slimmer.
Great work!

Hey Zahc,
These two photos look like pastel paintings. I did a lot of landscape pastel paintings along the beach, and I could swear these are paintings. They are so lyrical. Fantastic!

Sorry Zahc, these are the paintings I meant, which look like pastel paintings. Really nice!

A shot right out of Fritz Lang's "Metropolis".

Those are three really nice pictures, especially the first one with the preacher, of whom one only sees the porcupine hair with the congregation in the back. I bet it's the Rescue Mission in the Tenderloin...
But all three pictures together make a great combination of textures, shapes, patterns
Another one of your series of photographs where it looks like an eerie spaceship (here the Federal Building) landed in the City. Last time it was the round UFO in Yuerba Buena Gardens. I just love your work, as you can see by my many comments...

Your variations of the interior of the SF Public library are always wonderful. I didn't know that one building could be inspiration for so many different compositions.

Zahc, you are one of the best photographers at Urban Planet! Some of your pictures leave me speechless. What sets you apart from many other photographers on this website, is that you include the human element in your photographs. Cities are full of architecture, yes, but people inhabit them.
I know this place you depict here. It's a place where junkies hang out and shoot up, while the rest of the population sits in the restaurant and view the scene that plays out outside the display window. Here the homeless junkie is passed out, and the pigeons go about their daily routine. This picture is not melodramatic, to me, inspite of the tragic subject matter. Like these pigeons, you see and depict life just as it is, without judging or becoming maudlin. This is the reasons your photographs are so powerful. Again, you remind me so much of my favorite Japanese movie director, Ozu.
Thank you Zahc, for your beautiful ART.

Seven houses and a lone car. I like how you turn the reality upside down, because in San Francisco, cars far outnumber the houses. I love the feeling that this photograph gives me.

24th Street Mission BART
Skyline & Summer Fog from Masonic Ave.
Really nice photos of the beautiful modern synagogue. I love the wonderful composition of the BART 24th St. station even more!

Wonderful composition of the play of light and shadow.
I didn't know there were columns made out of brick. Those must be curved bricks. Really interesting...

end of a heatwave,
the mission/bernal heights/noe valley
All these photographs look very moody, almost apocalyptic. There are days like this in San Francisco, when one feels the fog will never lift... and then, in the next hour, or even minute, the weather can change, and it's bright sunlight, and all is well again.

Where did you find these? These pictures are so colorful. It almost reminds me of childrens' toys. What a nice refreshing change from the usual architectural photographs at Urban Planet. I like that you show other parts of the city that not many people would notice. I almost suspect you're a painter at heart.

This is a beautiful composition: the glowing hot red in front of the neutral grey, and the interplay between the cool tuquoise banister and warm green tree.
-
I like this photograph a lot, love the play of light and shadows, and most of all the swoop of the eucalyptus tree on top

Thanks for these wonderful Pride Parade pictures. I almost feel like I was there myself

I'm glad you photographed this building. I think it has wonderful proportions.

GermanArtist...The 40th Anniversary Stonewall "Pride" was indeed much fun and rather calm this year (probably because Bush is no longer President). I missed the Dykes on Bikes yet again, but did come face to face with our greatest and Honorable Mayor who looks like a movie star. What a tall, fit and handsome man! This year he decided to walk instead of ride in his car that followed behind...
What I thought would be a few photos ended up being 700+ (more than I planned), so I'd start with just a few of my favorites & post the others later in my gallery or in pictures, which might take some time...
Wells Fargo Float...
Kaiser's blue THRIVE balloons...
Thanks Zahc, those are wonderful. I didn't go to the parade but am looking forward to more or your pics!

Hi Zahc,
I hope you go to the parade tomorrow, and maybe this evenings "Dykes on Bikes" parade, and give us all at Urban Planet lots of your colorful photographs!
