  1. I can't get the plans to open up on the links below. But, the development rights to TDR (Transfer of Development Rights) to the Academy of Medicine have been purchased, so it's going no where. Also, the parking lot behind the building has been "marked" for about a 12-15 story condo building, altho who know when that would be built now. Also, they granted an easement to the Academy of Medicine to still have parking in the new building, whenver it's built.
  2. Actually the design has been changed to only 4 homes, but now much larger (4,000+ including roof top terraces) Now front two homes (on Piedmont) will have drive under garage, and back homes will have detached 2-car garages with flex space above them. Should break ground in January. Visit our website at 975 Piedmont Priced from $650,000
  3. Doraville never had much of a town center to begin with. Any historic buildings they DID have, were lost to eminent domain when the MARTA station in Doraville was built. As for a Town Center, the "town" was under a heavy-handed ruler who could not look to the future of Doraville. Hence, where you SHOULD of created a Town Center next to the MARTA station...heck no...we have a d*mn jail!!! Probably of even bigger concern to anyone should not be WHOM is selected to develop the property, but if they will be able to navigate the hillbilly, back-country (no disrespect meant) Doraville City Council and Mayor. They are more concerned with who they can fire, that the entire future of their town/city. The City Council has know since 2006 that the Doraville GM Plant was going to close. I personally attended City Council meetings back then. To my knowledge, but would certainly stand corrected if need be, the City Council HAS YET TO PASS A ZONING ORDINANCE that covers developing the GM site. Now's that scary! Let's hope it's NOT another Atlantic Station...I know many people that are very, very, very disappointed with that development. And the GM site is going to be a BIG challenge. Retail follows rooftops, so you are going to have to build housing (condos, lofts, townhomes, apts) FIRST, to get the number of people there before you can get retail to locate there. This site sits right between Perimeter Mall and Northlake Mall...so to draw any big retailers will be a challenge, since most of them have stores in one of these locations. (Case in Point...Outback Steakhouse will not open another store within 5 miles of an existing one!) "General City, or Motors City or Town Doraville" or whatever you call it really has the potential to be a development that could be a model and talked about round the world. Mass Transit....all ready there. Freeway access....I-285 and I-85...all ready there. Highway access....Buford Highway and Peachtree Industrial....all ready there! Time will tell....I just hope Doraville is ready!
  4. A couple updates to fill you all in.....at least on what I know. 1) Parking Lot behind Academy of Medicine: GATech has nothing to do with this. There is a prelim proposal for a 15 story condo building that would have townhome style residences on the Cypress Street facade...altho this is in conflict with Blueprint Midtown. Academy of Medicine has been preserved with TDR's (Transfer of Development Rights). Needless to say, this development is years away with the current state of the real estate market. 2) St. Marks....Tried to pull a fast one on the Midtown residents by going straight to the City of Atlanta to get a demolition permit to tear down the three historic homes behind the church. Thankfully, the systems DO work, and the City Planning Department stopped 'em in their tracks. St. Marks has failed to persuse historic status for the church, enabling them to get TDR's as well, which they could sell development rights and have monies they need to expand the church. Many hours were invested by the Land Use Committee of MNA (Midtown Neighbors' Association) only to have the church pull this stunt. And then they wonder why some residents of Midtown don't think the churches really have the neighborhood in mind at all as they proceed with their own plans. Shame on St. Marks, and I'll certainly never worship there again..... 3) At the DRC meeting this week, the DRC echoed what everyone has been telling GATech all along....Preserve the Crum & Forester building on Spring Street. The only person who did not vote is the GATech rep...everyone else was against it. It's now up to our City Leaders to do the right thing and stop the process. We shall see.
  5. Yes....Closings have begun, and the first residents have moved in the building. One of my clients was #7 be move in! They are having the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony followed by the Grand Opening Party on Thursday. The building, especially the amenities, are a "kick up" from their last building, and really have some great benefits to the new homeowners.
