  1. I'm guessing that by the 2010 census, Conway will have surpassed NLR. Will this make it the state's third largest city behind LR and FS?
  2. Anyone know a projected opening date? And are they the location that sticks out on the east side of the shopping center? I haven't been out there in a while.
  3. I don't think McCain Mall is necessarily dead, but it definitely needs a major renovation and a new exciting tenant that can replace Cohn's. Because of Dillard's close ties to Simon, they have been very good at keeping competitors from ever entering the market through a Simon development. However, if there were a way for Macy's to enter, it would completely turn around the shopping center. Without that, I think the Bass Pro Shop idea is a great one. And not building the Shoppes at North Hills is a great idea. I still don't see the appeal of it. That means McCain could also get a traffic-building stadium-seating movie theater. It's a big change from a few years ago when McCain was at 100% occupancy and was toying with the idea of adding another floor - it would have been an easy fit - Dillard's and Sears both have additional floors already and could anchor the ends. Good thing that never happened, because occupancy would be very low now. Or would that have changed the scope to where McCain was a bigger player than it is now? Hmmm.
  4. You can search through this thread and get a good idea of when stuff is going to open, but generally, it looks like the movie theater will be first and most other things will open throughout the summer. I think a grand opening is planned for October, so I would think most things would open in August or September in anticipation of that event.
  5. Thanks for getting us back on track. It opens June 6.
  6. The city's master plan is for Rahling to continue to Kanis, then beyond. That work is in process, but looks like it won't be ready for a while. I know there is then a connector street that will go from Rahling into one of the older Chenal neighborhoods. Maybe it's the SIM City player in me, but I'm always interested when new roads connect, changing the scope of a city and its traffic. At the same time, I'm waiting for completion of the various roads around Fellowship Bible.
  7. Those are the only restaurants I've heard mention of, although people on this site have speculated about Ruth's Chris. Interesting restaurants are important - look at Pleasant Ridge. That shopping center doesn't excite me at all except for the restaurants. And with the Promenade's main street feel, even a Chili's is going to feel like a different experience if you can have some outdoor seating or at least views out onto something other than a huge parking lot. That said, I'd much rather see better alternatives than Chili's. Bravo seemed like a nice idea, so would La Madeline's. I love those in Dallas.
  8. Is that the sign that's barely visible across from DSW and down into the center a bit? I couldn't tell what it was. It looked green and white, with two lines of words.
  9. It won't go in this center because of Haverty's, but I've always expected us to get Rooms 2 Go. Inexpensive furniture that would actually fit the shopping center better than Haverty's. I think Haverty's is making a mistake by moving from their high-profile location at the end of I-630, but they didn't ask me.
  10. If you're talking about the northeast side of the center (basically just southeast of Penney's), I'm not sure what that one is. I know the Asian restaurant is going to be at a corner lot in the middle of the center (southwest corner of the traffic circle that's in the center). According to the ad in Soiree, Haverty's is up against I-430, north of Babies R Us. Not touching BRU - there will be something in between them.
  11. Copeland's is mentioned in the bottom of the ad, along with Zaxby's, Rack Room Shoes, AT&T, etc. Mainly the outparcels were mentioned on the actual map itself (although the golf store was mentioned there, too).
  12. How do you know Copeland's is well into construction? Are they the building on the east end sticking out near Penney's?
  13. The new issue of Soiree, which features central Arkansas development, has an ad for Shackleford Crossings. The ad features an aerial shot of the center with some type that shows where a few of the new stores and restaurants will be located. Haverty's will be north of Babies R Us, but another store (probably where Dunlap's was going to be), will be in between them. It also shows the locations for the restaurants. Most interesting is that they include Panera on the map.
  14. I'm pretty sure that Kohl's and Penney's would never be in the same shopping center. Although I know mall anchors that are similar will be in the same center. I can't see it happening there. I do think the Kohl's location is unfortunate. I never got over the fact that they paid the city to cut down all those trees in the Chenal Parkway median so that they would be more visible. That unused trail they've built didn't need to be more open there than anywhere else.
  15. I'm still wondering what the jr. anchor will be. Filling that 50,000 sq ft with the right retailer could change everyone's attitude about SC. Not that these would necessarily be junior anchors, but what happened to Goody's and TJ Maxx? Both were mentioned as tenants when the center was first announced, but I haven't heard anymore. They would definitely fit with the price level it seems to be targeting. And does anyone know where all of the announced restaurants are going? I assumed the big chains would be outparcels, but I'm pretty sure when I drove through there that Copeland's will occupy a corner space within the center. How about Texas Roadhouse and Cheddar's?
  16. Since we've mentioned before that there's land around the center to develop and there's the rumor that it is 100% leased (which I'll believe when I see it), will expansion be a possibility? Maybe a department store could fit next to it. Macy's or Nordstrom's? We can wish.
  17. I opened this because the old Shackleford Crossings topic was closed for some reason. Anyway, there are new developments there - Texas Roadhouse and Zaxby's, are now official. Also, Cheddar's, a chain I've seen often in Dallas, will be joining, too. I would assume these are all outparcels, but the article didn't say.
  18. Ben & Jerry's would have been nice. This sounds like just another Cold Stone, but considering their lines, there's definitely a demand for the place.
  19. I have very high hopes for this shopping center. I do hope it does well, but does anyone else worry that being so far from the interstate will make it difficult to ever be a citywide draw? If the Apple store happens, that will certainly attract people, but for many people, it will be quicker to go to, say, Coldwater Creek at Park Plaza than one out there. While it's good news for Park Plaza, I just think getting there may be an issue for some. Especially since some don't notice Pleasant Ridge and its just a half-mile off the interstate.
  20. Personally, I think they've relocated University Mall. While Wal-Mart will keep it from becoming a dying shopping center for now, we all know that, in a few years, they'll move. After all, west LR has already had three Wal-Mart locations (Burlington Coat, Hobby Lobby and current). They've all been able to find new tenants, but if no one is attracted to this shopping center for anything but Wal-Mart, that will be difficult. I predict occupancy never above 75%, then discounted leases that lead to lower end retailers (nail shops are already proof of that).
