  1. It would be great to see a re-imagined 131 corridor, not just from 28th to Wealthy, but also from the I-96 split up to Rockford. The daily backups and congestion, not just on Friday's when people head north, seems worse and worse by the year. Obviously it all costs money, but the metro growth over the past 20 years is making this necessary.
  2. I have also recently seen Laker Line buses using the parking lot from the former GM stamping plant on 36th Street for practice.
  3. Beer City Bread, from what I was told, is the next generation of the family taking over the Arnie's restaurants and re-branding. Apparently many Arnie's classic items will come over on their new menus.
  4. I believe it is to show if a spot is occupied or not. I was in Vegas a year ago and the lights turn red when a car is in the spot. This helps a driver see if spots are occupied as they come down the row.
  5. All of this brings up a question I have often thought... The arena is almost 25 years old and I wonder what the long-term vision is as the facility continues aging. SMG/ CAA has put a ton of money in to the building to keep it looking fresh and updated over the years, but at some point it is going to feel like an old building. There is an amazing entertainment district built up all around the Van, but you can't (when the time eventually comes) just plop a new or much larger arena in the same spot. What do you think we'll see long-term?
  6. It would be cool to see the 1996 picture with arrows or shapes showing where something changed. (like Founders, etc) Especially for those who have not lived in GR that long and have no idea.
  7. That picture is amazing! Downtown has come so far since the mid-90's, but it is hard to remember how desolate it truly was, especially in Heartside.
  8. I shop at 54th weekly and I believe the project got started about a month ago. It has been fun to see the progress all while keeping the store open and operating! From what I can tell, I think the drop ceiling is going away completely. Back in the NE corner (Electronics), it looks like a new ceiling is in. Really makes the drop ceiling look tacky! Also- so many wires- crazy to have to keep track of which wire goes where and for what.
  9. Meijer #36 at 54th and Clyde Park is undergoing its own renovation. Anyone with connections have more details?
  10. Land clearing has begun on the 3-hotel project going in next to the Knights of Columbus hall and Craig's Cruisers on Clyde Park.
  11. The 9 acre site is excess land just sold by the Knights of Columbus council on Clyde Park.
  12. Also, Catholic Central is currently building their football stadium right on the NW corner of the property. The room that used to exist is now gone on that corner of the interchange.
