  1. Yes, the same with the the one off of Sherwood at I-12. Just a shell of a building. I'm guessing with the major hotel boom here, they figure the B.R. hotels can be put on the back burner for a while. I hope they don't leave them unfinished like that for long!
  2. I would be very interested in seeing the renderings for that $69,000,000 RiverCenter parking garage(s).
  3. They could easily chop that in half and stack it to 10 stories. Just an idea.
  4. Thanks ya'll! I'm going to try to get a better one at that angle. My problem is I need someone to drive so I can have more control of the shot. Driving and trying to get a good shot is tough. I can't put the pic on wiki, Cajun. That's up to Dan, but he is more than welcome to do so. Thank you for the compliments. Richy, it's just driving and taking as many shots as you can, and praying that one comes out right. If I wasn't scared of getting killed, I would stop on the bridge and get the shot I want, but there ain't no way thats going to happen .Not in B.R.! Ya'll have a Happy New Year!
  5. Tell me if ya'll think this is better angle shot. I think it makes downtown look more dense than the other. I can't believe how wide Death Valley is! Wow!
  6. Here's the Old Bridge angle. Sorry for the gloomy day. I believe if I had a 300mm zoom, I would be able to get a better detailed pic.
  7. Here's a shot of the Old Capitol. Man,that's one tall snowman,Dan !
  8. Here's a updated photo taken this morning. The new courthouse will really have a major impact on the southern CBD!
  9. Trying to master night time cityscape photography is hard. One little twitch, and it's blurred.
  10. Great shot LT! I've always loved the stained glass in the Old State Capitol.
  11. Sunset on the Baton Rouge Riverfront
  12. Yeah I'm starting to think there's a little more than 750,000 people in BR's metro.
  13. Hey Richy, were you out there today? We went down there, and it justs makes me feel good to see so many people enjoying Downtown! Here's a pic of people playing in the fountain pool at the 911 Memorial.
  14. This was a interesting one I took back in Jan.
  15. I do definitly believe B.R.'s pop. is over 300k right now. It's ironic that many plant exec.'s are now coming back to Baton Rouge from Houston because of the expansions, when many of them moved to Houston years ago,for it's industrial expansions. My Uncle was a Plant Manager with Ethyl for many years here in Baton Rouge,he moved to Houston about 5 years ago, now he has the option to come back to BR. But I believe many people are moving here because buissiness ventures, The industrial plants are no longer the driving force in Baton Rouge, it's becoming more commercial, and buissiness . But the Plants still are a vital commodity for BR ,and the State. I say Baton Rouge will be the Premier City of Louisiana!!! Here's a little update photo!Sorry about the quality.
  16. twstd, I don't think it will be much longer, Baton Rouge is starting to get a good rep. around the south and somewhat around the country.I used to hear back in the 80's people call it "Baton 0", now I've talked to people from Atlanta, Sacremento, who have even heard of the Baton Rouge infusion of growth, hey that's really something!
  17. My Uncle is a Realestate agent in Orlando, And he told me that those are the highest ranking right now, He also said that Orlando's market is almost the bottom, and they have had to reduce prices drastically on houses down there. I don't know how long though, Baton Rouge can sustain its current market, but it's still going. I say " Keep Building"!!!
  18. Baton Rouge,Houston, and Dallas are the three highest ranked housing markets in the country right now, so keep your fingers crossed for RiverPlace. There is still hope.
  19. Here's a lithograph from 1857. Courtesy,Anglo-American Art Museum. You still have the St. Joseph's Cathedral, and the practically new "Old State Capital".Downtown has come along way since then. I found another painting done from across the river from 1824, but the quality is too poor to scan.
  20. The new building renderings look nice, but I wish they would have a little more narrow with Iberville and Bienville buildings, and added more height. They could do the same with this new building taking the old Insurance building's place, make it about 10 - 12 floors. I'm glad they demolished that education building, that was one ugly building!
