  1. All of the above is a positive for this location but the negatives are tremendous. 1. Location does not serve locals. Most locals avoid I-drive convention area like the plague. 2. Traffic. 3. Traffic. 4. Traffic 5. Traffic

So in short... Orlando really does have a height limit.... it seem absurd.. I can see where the Suntrust might be in OEA's flightpath... but I cannot see how the (block formerly know as Pizzuto) could be in that fligh path. I am guessing... but I am sure their is no way around the FAA on this issue.

Thanks. Did the FAA say that the building with the cube on top of it...(pizzuto block?) was to tall...and then it was redesigned as a short squater building? I am pretty sure that some force said no to the original height of this tower...

O-kay o-native humor me and give me the bottom line on this topic. Is their an FAA mandated ceiling of 400 feet? I totally missed the thread on this topic in the past... and anything is better than the IKEA thread...

Agreed. O-town is not a particularly small town any more though... Their are not enuff native O-towners to really push for preservation and prevent rampant development IMO. The only thing that slows projects in O-town these days is whether the an individual project will be provide enough profit... IMO

painting the masonary work on the garage is going to look terrible! I thought I saw that they had started painting the garage... and I told myself that it simply could not be true.... I think it will look scary horrific... that cheap "tin shack" looking ovehang is bad enough.... beautiful project they are cheaping out on!

One problem Jacksonville has, is that 95 is far away from the Jacksonville skyline; this probably robs the Jacksonville skyline of some of it's power. When I drive through Jacksonville on 95 (the only time I see this city) I feel so far removed from downtown. Orlando's skyline is unimpressive from a distance IMO, but I think the proximity of the East West expressway and I-4 to downtown Orlando really helps with the overall impression of the Orlando skyline. Jacksonville needs density badly. IMO

Jax? Sorry but that city does not seem to have tall buildings either... I prefer Orlando's skyline to Jax's... Jax's skyline seems so spread out.. no density... and the bellsouth building seems stale

NICE SHOTS... PARTICULARLY THAT SECOND ONE... THAT'S A NICE VIEW... ONE THAT I HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE.

I believe it to be two. 10 story parking garage and 20 stories of condos. Someone else correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah, from Lake Eola the project is a huge...particularly the Solaire. I love the density that is getting built up around the Suntrust building...now if 55 West gets rolling it will be awesome

They seem to be picking up the pace on this project.

Thanks for the explanation. I know I am wrong, but it seems like the process they are using on the Solaire would be both stronger and faster... The Vue just seems like concrete boxes piled onto one another...

iT DOES APPEAR THAT THEY ARE USING A DIFFERENT PROCESS...WISH i UNDERSTOOD MORE

The solaire has some height...and by my calcs their are still five more stories to go. It looks awesome from Lake Eola

Boy the pace of this building appears to have slowed down, especially when compared to the Plaza. They seem to be stuck on the current floor...

read what i qoted and it was adressed to who i quoted...pretty obvious....

Something does not add up... in renderings, and height comaprisons... the residential part of this project is considerably shorter the Suntrust building.... but they still have about 13 more stories to add to this tower... which seem to make it taller than the renderings. I hope so at least. Right now this project has a giant footprint..but it is very squat... I wish the residential tower would be much taller than the commercial towers...I think it would look much nicer... right now I am not impressed in the least... just the worlds largest above ground parking garage... Will the rebuilding of New orleans and the subsequent demand for concrete derail any of our projects in Downtown O-town. i know the Vue is a go, but the price of building supplies is sure to be driven up by Katrina. Could the %%W and Dynetech projects be hurt by this?

    The VUE

this project is so slow. almost as alow as 55w. I will be 85 by the time they top this thing..... i almost don't even care anymore....
  22. I was in St Pete today for a D-Rays game. The Parkshore Plaza condo tower looks to be a nice addition to St pete's skyline. Nice dowtown with retail, and nice wide streets. Not a lot of foot traffic though. St pete has a tom of potential though.
