Thanks for the explanation. I know I am wrong, but it seems like the process they are using on the Solaire would be both stronger and faster... The Vue just seems like concrete boxes piled onto one another...

The solaire has some height...and by my calcs their are still five more stories to go. It looks awesome from Lake Eola

Boy the pace of this building appears to have slowed down, especially when compared to the Plaza. They seem to be stuck on the current floor...

Something does not add up... in renderings, and height comaprisons... the residential part of this project is considerably shorter the Suntrust building.... but they still have about 13 more stories to add to this tower... which seem to make it taller than the renderings. I hope so at least. Right now this project has a giant footprint..but it is very squat... I wish the residential tower would be much taller than the commercial towers...I think it would look much nicer... right now I am not impressed in the least... just the worlds largest above ground parking garage... U.G.L.Y.

I was dreading another history of downtown disney post...then u totally redeemed your post with the "In fact, we'll have something they could only dream of having: real life homeless people panhandling patrons for $$ and food. It will be beautiful." lines. Magnificent.

In that case why start demo now... why not wait about 80 more days...

yeah I drove by today... and I am sorry to say the site looks about the same as it did 3 mnths ago. I just hope that my children's children will be alive to see 55W completed....

Will the rebuilding of New orleans and the subsequent demand for concrete derail any of our projects in Downtown O-town. i know the Vue is a go, but the price of building supplies is sure to be driven up by Katrina. Could the %%W and Dynetech projects be hurt by this?

this project is so slow. almost as alow as 55w. I will be 85 by the time they top this thing..... i almost don't even care anymore....

Don't these buildings have to be knocked down also? i mean they cant build a scyscarpaer on top of the Howl at the Moon can tHey?

Site down, sales office closed, and no site work being done..... I say take it off your site. Emporis and skyscraper.com never added it to their sites.

The longer the 55 West site stays down the more ominous this begins to seem. Has anyone heard anything?

I was in St Pete today for a D-Rays game. The Parkshore Plaza condo tower looks to be a nice addition to St pete's skyline. Nice dowtown with retail, and nice wide streets. Not a lot of foot traffic though. St pete has a tom of potential though.

I dare Crotty to vote commuter rail down! Oil is at $60 a barrel! I swear on all the I value and hold dear that if Crotty turns down matching funds for mass transit I will do everything in my power to help his next election opponent defeat him.

Condo highrise. Two commercial towers. BTW, I think this is going slowly for a simple reason. They are builing three high rises at one.

I live in Atlanta, so I don't get home to Orlando much. I was down this past week and was impressed with the new skyscraper in Altamonte Springs. It reminds me of Atlanta, where the Northern Sububurbs have Skylines of their own. The skeleton of the builing looks to be done. By my calcs if it was in downtown Orlando it would be the 4th tallest building (not counting any of the towers currently under development) pretty impressive.
