  1. I really wish they would at least try the idea of putting some signs up indicating that the exit is on the left... it took me years to get used to the fact there is absolutely no warning... there is no reason to redo the road and eliminate the exit, just add a very clear left lane exit only about 2 miles before the exit... compared to the first indication now which is extremely close to the interchange... there are so many more useful projects they could be doing...
  2. Dave & Busters construction is starting... their facility will be 80,000 sf to replace the 17,752 sf building that was razed. http://www.bizjournals.com/orlando/news/2010/12/14/work-begins-on-i-drive-dave-busters.html?ana=RSS&s=article_search&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%253A+bizj_orlando+%2528Orlando+Business+Journal%2529

    Amway Center

UCF actually had a good transportation plan that they executed the first few games after building the new stadium... they seem to have abandoned it, and reprogrammed the lights incorrectly.

    Amway Center

I think if it gets people out shopping over there, bringing in more tax revenue, or at least going to more events at the Amway Center so that facility makes itself worth what we paid for it, its probably worth it. I just wish they bidded a bit more competitively, they definitely could have done the same for much less if there wasn't so many restrictions on who could bid...
  5. There isn't currently any simulation in that area is there? seems like pretty poor placement, it should at the very least go somewhere in the corridor from UCF area to Lake Nona or even by the convention center if its not towards downtown from any of those sites... building it north of everything else in that industry, especially with Innovation Way sitting empty the way it is, seems a bit crazy...
  6. You can also see the "river" (which looks man made) on Google Maps right by the VA site with the roads matching the pictures, definitely is the medical city...

UCF opened a new candy store on campus today too... makes no sense, but apparently day after halloween is the day to open the candy store, with all those leftovers and stuff...
  8. The satellite imagery was updated on Google Maps during the summer, you can see the road under construction on their too...
  9. I didn't even know Valencia was building a new campus there... is there any renderings for what they're building
  10. VA is 65 acres, Nemours is 60, UCF College of Medicine is 50. UCF's development is much more phased then the other 2...
  11. There is two buildings up for the UCF med school already.. so its 4 buildings including the chilled water station... with more coming very soon.
  12. I think its because they are lower to the ground? I also noticed on some parts of it they are now on both sides of the road as well, making it even more street lights... I prefer dark highways, less glare and all of the objects you really need to be concerned about are lit up (other cars and reflectors on the road)
  13. They did post on the BOT website for the public a complete analysis including statistics about the quality of students of each program, including the cost per student compared to the cost of other programs in the college and the university, the quality of the admits who choose the program, 4 year graduation rate, program availability at other institutions, and other various statistics about all of the programs. Daytona State College is going to offer the lost medical degree program before we stop offering it, there is a reason why no university is offering this program. Its a 2 year program.
  14. If you read the BOT/committee minutes from the meetings when they were trying to choose which majors to cut, they provide a lot of hard facts about these majors, including the fact that they are very expensive, not highly ranked, and in many cases will filled with the worst quality admits UCF has, with almost everyone being in the bottom 25%. Programs like the cardio sciences one (the one relevant to medicine/Lake Nona) really only requires an AA to work in the field, the bachelors is for those who want to teach it and is usually not found at major research universities. It will still be offered in the area has Daytona State College is going to be offering that degree.
  15. MD Anderson Cancer Institute. There were a few much smaller ones as well, that plan to be in the research park, but not have their own building. UCF also plans to relocate the College of Nursing to Lake Nona, although the building is still in the planning stages.
  16. Exactly. Several of the organizations also said they wanted to make sure they had land to expand into as they grow, and the larger amount of land is very important. Also realize that some types of medical research done also requires a more controlled environment, making the buildings much more expensive, increasing exponentially as they get taller and such a busy environment could lead to other problems as well. (Security and disaster protocols for dangerous, hazardous work, etc) A lot has to go into the site locations for many medical organizations, and I think it actually is turning out decently well.
  17. Yeah, the burnham institue is open as well... can't seem to find any better pictures of it completed then these though
  18. here's some pics of the UCF med school at lake nona:
