  1. I dont see apple in Park Ave. unless the design/layout is changed. This or Midtown would be great for it.

As for Alltel, This could be a major blow. But i dont see that as a major reasoning. LR retail may have to wait a couple of years for what we want or at least though we would get this year. If all this was happening a year or 2 ago, it would be great. Im sad to see this comming. Its does not look good. I hate to be a doom and gloom, but its like WOW. talk about hitting a brick wall!

  2. This may be the trend for LIT with Southwest. Last week I flew to and from San Antonio on Southwest. When I connected in Dallas for my trip to Little Rock, after the stop here the plane was going to St. Louis then to Chicago then to Manchester, New Hampshire.

I hate to loose the direct flight to Phoenix. It only leaves direct flights to Las Vegas on Southwest and Denver on United as the only options of connecting out west. I don't see anymore flights being added to LIT in the current climate. LIT will be doing good if it doesn't loose any more flights.

I hope this really isn't. I know that the Baltimore flight is a connecting form Dallas. LIT is a connecting point to various destinations from Dallas. I really hope, that if anything good comes with the loss of Frontier, The UA flights maybe upgraded to a CRJ-700 or at least stay around. I would like to see US provide 1 daily flight to there west hub from LIT, which would be Phoenix. If oil doesn't go down, and the economy doesn't get any better, then i think LIT might be hit hard. Plus we have this Delta/Northwest thing coming up. Very interesting times.

At least the majority of the remaining flights are to hubs.

    AA-Dallas, Chicago

    CO-Newark, Houston, Cleveland.

    DL-Atlanta, Cincinnati.

    NW-Memphis, Detroit, Minneapolis.

    UA-Denver, Washington D.C.

    US-Charlotte.

SW-Dallas, Houston, St. Louis, Las Vegas, Baltimore, Chicago.

  3. I read in the ADG that Southwest will end its Phoenix flight Aug 24. They said it had a high Load Factor, just full of connecting passengers. I have taken this flight to connect to LAX. Hey, give us LAX southwest.

Im hoping that US air will take over the flight. A daily CRJ-900 or E-190 would do good.

Anyways, LIT isnt doing to good this year. lets hope it stops with this.

    So far:

    St. louis: gone (aa)

    Orlando: gone

    Phoniex: gone

    Kansas City:gone

    Frontier: gone

  4. If MM Cohn was still in its hey day, do you think they could find themselfs in the Promenade. At one point, Cohn was LR's own Saks & it was a step above Dillards. What a fall from grace. I would love to see a department store there. I would only do more to complament the shopping center. I would love to see macy's. even if its not that upscale, its still new to the market. I would love to see a Saks. Oh, but we could only dream. What other cities that might be larger than LR, but comparable to LR have a saks? any?

  5. Its route was to generally follow the railroads from the state capitol, across the river and through the MOPAC area, so it wouldn't have been the typical neighborhood wrecker/divider that so many are. I sort of hate that it didn't go in, not b/c we need another freeway, but primarily b/c we need another place to cross the river besides I-430 and downtown.

Thats why i would have wanted it. My friend lives in the heights, but goes to her moms house in Levy. So its either 430, 30 or broadway. I often though, what would have happened had they extended university across the river.

Anyways, i dont think we need another freeway, but another bridge would be appricated. a 4 lane brdige would help traffic alot.

  6. I could be wrong but isn't there a train complex not far from the proposed Rockwater Village. What is with these people and trying to sell upscale things to people that want to escape the stuff that surrounds this.

Im sure the NLR board will be more than happy to approve this. They would approve anything that comes their way.

And by the way, what's up with that hotel tower in Downtown NLR. I don't remember what the hotel is called, but I haven't seen any news about it. Also, there were some designs in that Argenta website that included some high rise buildings. i would be interested in more info about that.

  7. Lets say a RED developed the area behind The Promenade. And lets say there happened to be a Department store in the mix. What could go there that would want to go there? Im guessing, or at least the word on here is, that dillards will not go out west. Macys? maybe. Nordstorms, NO! a smaller Sacks, would love to see, but i dont think so. Maybe a smaller department store of some type. I have high hopes for this area. The condos going up next to the B.of O. headquaters will help out too. I still think an urban outfitters type store would go well in this area. I know lots of kids that have mommys and daddys money and buy expensive clothing that live in chenal. I hope this turns out to be a really nice shopping district. I dont want it to end up being spread out. It has to be dense. Maybe something on the other side of chenal on the N.E. corrner of Rhalling and Cheanl.

  8. This could be interesting, and if talks between Continental and United Heat up, that could lead to more changes. Delta will have good coverage in LIT. Service to Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, Memphis, Salt Lake City, and Cincinnati. I have a gut feeling that MEM and CVG service will be cut someday. I would LOVE to see Los Angeles and New York pop up on the map. Both Delta hubs. If talks between UAL and CAL heat up, they would have service to Denver, Washington D.C., Huston, Newark, and Cleveland. I would like to see Chicago come online to. If they merge too, I could see Los Angeles coming online too. That leaves American and US airways. I don

  9. Some like to think that it was all about the 1420 crash in 98 or 99, but they ran MD-80's into LIT all the way up until 02 or 03. I was on the last DFW Md-80 flight. It was really something special. LIT also got MD-80s to STL before they pulled the plug on the St. Louis hub. LIT fit into a dilemma: 10+ flights on Regional Jets or 7 Flights MD-80/ Regional Jets. AA chose to lower cost and pull the Md-80s, and replace mainline employees with AE employees. Now, 2008 is much different than 02. I hope to see AA put some MD-80s back into LIT, but AA is in a huge mess cuz the MD-80 is so un efficient. LIT would most benefit if AA had a 100-seat plane.

I hope southwest jumps on the Orlando flight. Or even Airtran.

  10. i'm so happy to have located this message board. we've been dying to find out what stores are moving into the promenade. we moved here from california, specifically orange county. we are definitely missing the great So Cal shopping.

we are not impressed with the list of stores we're reading about here. we've lived in chenal for about 8 months and have the 'impression' that we are living around some pretty high income families. why is the promenade allowing some of the stores on this list given the high income in this area?

also, where are the family friendly stores? what about babystyle or janie and jack or a cute little toy store? we are surprised to see stores that aren't catering to children and families in this area.

obviously, we are still learning about arkansas and the little rock area. both of us were born and raised in california. but for the state's capital, you think they would have most stores...some bigger named stores, for sure. we have been surprised with what's missing. HOWEVER, we've been saving tons of money on tax and shipping while shopping online. since AR doesn't have many of the stores we are ordering from, you don't pay tax and often times NO SHIPPING, too. that's been nice, but we'd love to have the store here. know what i mean?

anyway, a nordstrom would be great. macy's is a bit 'ehhh'. macy's is all over california and it's kinda viewed as an upscale Tj Maxx. a nordstrom would really bring in the high-end retailers. gawd please bring in that apple store. we are a mac family and have been dying to see an apple store around here. they have a great children's area in most apple stores and they offer amazing classes.

we have been pleased to see all of the other new centers popping up around town, too...gives us some hope. oh, and we were pleasant;y surprised to see that container store come to town. that is a sign of something great on the horizon.

This is Little Rock, Not LA. Sorry, and yes i feel your pain. I shop in San Francisco every summer and once I get back here, its like oh crap. Its sad. I would like to come back in 5 years and see a Nordstrom

  11. I just read that Delta today announced major service cuts across the country. LIT wasn't spared. The Delta Little Rock - Orlando route is being eliminated effective 5/31/08. No surprises here really since Delta has been bleeding cash like there's no tomorrow.

This is too bad, but probably opens the door for Southwest to offer the service - many have predicted this for a while, in spite of current Delta service. Certainly, it would be cheaper than the $400/seat I paid the last time I flew LIT-MCO direct on Delta!

ITs not so much that delta has been bleeding cash, its that they will start if they dont cut flights to keep cost down. And these RJ's that are the SUV's the sky are the majority of the flights being canceled.

I would hope that this might let Air Tran or Southwest jump in.

Also, just to note: Starting June 5, Northwest will upgrade its Flight to MSP from a CRJ to a E-170. But downgrade one of the MEM flights to E-170 (1 Airbus a319, 1 E-170 & 1 DC-9 to MEM) No other upgrades so far.

2008 will be interesting. Its only March!

  12. Let me weigh in.

First, I agree with Architect in that SC is a nice development. I don't think it looks cheap at all and that it is more pedestrian friendly than Pleasant Ridge. I drove through today, again, and I like the look. It's a shame that more retailers have not located there.

Architect is also right in stating that Clary has said that this would be a power center instead of a lifestyle center so you can't expect the retailers that Midtowne or Promenade Chenal have attracted. Not even the retailers in Pleasant Ridge for that fact. I hope Clary is going after tenants like TJ Maxx or Marshall's, Books-A-Million, Radio Shack, Claires or something along those lines. I think they would work well in the develoment. Don't forget that Haverty's is suppose to be relocating to SC as well. And yes, unfortunately, you will most likely see the dollar stores to go along with the nail shop and cellular stores.

SC was one of the last of the new retail developments to be announced so it didn't have much to choose from, especially since Parisian bought Belk to take away that tenant (at PR as we all know) and Dunlaps decided to close shop to take away another. That's the main reason Wal-Mart is going to SC. Hopefully Clary can get SC together because outside of Midtowne/Park Avenue it has the best location of the new retail centers. It doesn't need to go to waste.

I think that a Books-A-Million would Fit perfect in the area. Also stores alont the lines of TJ Maxx, etc. I still have hope, but its going to be sad for a while. We will just have to wait and see.

  13. The last thing i want is fast food on Chenal! They need to block all that with everything they can. I want sit down restaurants. They dont have to be fancy, but sit down is alot better than fast food. If anything fastfood like, i would want something like a fazolis but thats gone. I dont want to see a golden arch. its like billboards.
