    My hard-drive kicked the bucket this weekend and with it a few hundred photos for which I wasn't smart enough to create back-up copies. Sad story. I guess it's about time to replenish the archives... In the meantime, here's one of the few I did have backed-up. Look at all that green!

    I found a flyer requesting works from local artists to decorate the walls of a new "Piquant Cafe." No address is given, but it says the cafe is scheduled to open in Grand Rapids in February. The phone number for more information has a 949 area code -- southern CA. Anyone heard about this?

And its too bad you have to be here to sample this horrible weather! If you get the chance, be sure to check out downtown. The sky doesn't seem nearly as grey when ice skating at Rosa Parks Circle.

    I suppose I'm a year too late, but I just saw "The Polar Express" ther other day. I knew Chris Van Allsburg was a West Michigan native, but I didn't realize the film specifically mentions Grand Rapids. "Herpolsheimers!"
