Forgive me if I missed it; but did Silver completely pull out? I had an emergency down in Tampa and tried to find a flight quickly on Saturday, putting all options on the table. And when I went onto the Silver website, GSP doesn't even show up. And I see no Arrivals/Departures from them.

Yes.  Their last flight was the beginning of March.  They are officially gone from GSP.

  2. Breeze has extended its schedule until Jan 2025.  Looks like no flights in Sept, but only PVD and TPA return from  Oct-Jan, and they switch to Sun/Thurs.  Looks like the other routes are seasonal.

Avelo will be flying on different days to Manchester than Breeze will be to Providence. Sunday and Thursday versus Monday and Friday so it actually works out really well.

Competition is always a good thing also as it causes prices to lower. Basically a turf war. This is why you see three carriers to Minneapolis from Asheville.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see GSP get one of the Lakeland, FL routes when it gets announced so Avelo can compete with Breeze and Allegiant down there.

    Isn’t this great @hauntedheadnc? :D

Avelo to MHT and Breeze to PVD are both Fridays and Mondays.  ROC is Thurs and Sun.

Good to know on the dates; that should help keep them both more sustainable. Competition is often a good thing but only to a point. Enough demand has to be there to warrant the competition or both lose money and you may end up with neither.

Just thinking, didn't we have a Pittsburgh flight sometime in the not too distant past?

GSP had a PIT flight back in the USAir hub days.

Agreed. If CAE can land and support Jersey Mike’s there is NO reason why GSP can’t.

And wait…what??? Another new airline? Wow.

By the way, I booked a flight with Breeze to and from LAX from May 24-27 so I am doing my part. :)

I wouldn't go as far as a new airline.  Don't think too big, but something is better than nothing!

GSP is a starting point or destination, they really don't need much in the way of dining options.  I fly in and out all the time and I have maybe grabbed CFA a few times for breakfast.

Also, Silver is the worst airline I have ever flown, we are better off without them.

Food outlets at GSP can get really busy and there is certainly enough support to warrant more.  I think what they need more than anything is more quick options, not anymore sitdowns.  I'd love to grab a sub to take on my flight!

Speaking of food.  Thomas Creek should officially transform into Triumph Taproom sometime around April.

Welp…I see Avelo is starting service to Concord and Knoxville. That’s pretty much the nail in the coffin for them at GSP. Oh well. This forum is dead anyways so what does it matter?

This forum make pick up again next week.  Let's say around Tuesday? 👀🤷

Correct that is why Allegiant flies out of Concord and Knoxville plus has a base in Asheville so they won't fly out of Greenville.  Wait..........

Those hoping for JetBlue anytime soon better keep hoping because it doesn’t look like it will be happening:

By the way, all of the new routes with Breeze are slated to end after Labor Day due to them being seasonal. Could change though of course depending on demand.

With the current state of Jetblue, it's pretty obvious they are slowing things down, but I don't think that would factor in the decision to provide service here or not.  Jetblue would not employ anyone at GSP if they did come here and if they did start service I doubt they would do it without incentives that made the route guaranteed to be economically viable for a certain amount of time.

With Breeze, while all our destinations were mentioned as seasonal, Breeze's flight schedule as a whole is only confirmed until Labor Day.

Flights up 22.8% and seats up 15.5% for February 2024 compared to February 2023.

Construction to start on new parking garage in early February 2024. Projected cost of it has dropped from $109,500,000 to $97,000,000.

Construction to start on FBO expansion, Aviation Parkway lighting, and I-85 decorative entrance signage in Spring 2024.

Due to intense growth and potentially a new airline expected for 2024, GSP Airport will be adding two new gates with full passenger boarding bridges this year. One gate will be at B5 and one will be between the airside garden and the current A1. Funding for the project is being expedited so it can get done faster. $5.3 million is the total cost. 24 weeks for completion once funding has been approved and allocated.

Ask about an update on the automated shuttle project and you shall receive. Option 1 which is what the commission is looking to possibly approve this month is P3 in the below image. Basically it would run from the terminal to the current cell phone (future premium economy) and employee lots. P1 and P2 are future phases:

Rumblings the new airline announcement could be early next week.  Haven't heard who though.  Let the speculation begin....

  9. Looks like Avelo has decided to give up on GSP-MCO.  Too much competition to Orlando.  Service to end completely March 6th.  Look for it to disappear from the booking site soon and passengers who have purchased tickets after that date will be refunded.

On the flip side, Avelo is very happy with HVN service.  That will continue.  No word if they will introduce a new destination for GSP.

If they aren't getting them from the other airports they fly to, they don't need it from GSP either. When they want to fly out of GSP they'll make a plea to come to the airport.

Not sure if you are aware, but the majority of the service  startups and route expansion done in the US to smaller cities is done by the airport courting airlines by giving  breaks in fees and incentives.  A lot of times once those incentives run out, the airline leaves too if the service they provide isn't super successful.  Airlines are really bullish on starting up new markets.  They need a reason to come and an assurance early on they can get help starting up to a certain point to see if the service is viable.  This happens almost everywhere.  So yeah, they are getting it from other airports they fly to.  I can promise you airlines aren't making pleas to come to GSP or any other airport.

Does anybody know how much more room GSP has for more flights before more gates need to be added? Sounds like it’s going to be really tight especially on Sunday’s come Summer next year.

Plenty of gate space still except on the overnights, where it does get tight from time to time.   For that though it just means the airlines will have push planes out and park them on the ramp overnight and tow them to the gates in the am.

I had to drop off my daughter this morning for her return flight home and that was the first time I was routed through the new way around and behind the garage. You still go straight through the intersection to access the garages, but veer right for arrival and departure lanes.

In December they are going to redo the original pick up and drop off area for 4 months.  That section will be closed and the traffic will be rerouted.  All arrivals and departing passengers will have to be picked up and dropped off where the old valet drop off was in front of terminal B.  Gonna get a little crazy!  The time frame on this pic is a little off, but the overview is still correct.

Either that or the demand isn’t there. There’s a reason they picked our airport to cut instead of others. So GSP isn’t going to have ANY Avelo service during this time. What was the point in even landing them? What a joke. I wish we could get rid of Avelo and bring back Frontier honestly. I wouldn’t even notice they were gone if they left with the sorry and pathetic service they have provided so far.

GSP wasn't alone and Avelo isn't the reason Frontier isn't at GSP.  They can both provide service if they wanted.

    Delta update:

GSP will be losing both seasonal flights to Detroit starting December 17th. One of the flights returns on March 10th and both return on April 14th. ATL drops one flight per day before it comes back and LGA remains at three flights per day during this same time period.

DTW only goes away a couple weeks.  They bring back once daily service on a B717 starting Jan 8th.

Excellent. Great to see them finally starting to expand at GSP again.

Looks like it’s Denver not Dallas. The Points Guy made a mistake there. Even better:

Wouldn't be surprised to see United counter and upguage their Denver to mainline when they do their summer schedule.
