awesome! im excited to hear about that as well..i am a big supporter of local biz...so def will pick up items when i can!
  2. i drove on that today! it felt so nice driving on almost a 100% smooth road and not having to deal w/all the drivers who hit their brakes at the slightest bend in the road
  3. im so excited about the anderson to division exit....i come from the east side on 408 and to get to work at hdsupply...i would just pay the extra .50 to exit obt so i wouldnt hit all the crappy roads (when i exited rosalind or mills)
  4. hahaha im not a beer fan...but a BBQ place opened up above cheyenne saloon? and has decent chicken wangs? good to know...might have to go and check em out! thanks for the tips def gives Pinkberry a run for their money... (even tho i have never had it) but from a bit of googling cefiore is better than pinkberry pinkberry just has the hype b/c of all the hollywoodians who go there... but "Red Mango" is the original of tart yogurt....i wonder if we will ever get one of those! went to sweetbyholly.com yesterday at waterford (it is next to toojays) they have one flavor of tart yogurt (plain) i got it with kiwi! it was a bit more sour than cefiore...but still yummy (and close to my home) so that is a plus! they also have vanilla/choco/swirl custard...which pretty much tastes like softserve, my bf got vanilla custard with cap'n crunch, he said he still likes cefiore...and then they have a ton of cupcakes...i got the original cupcake..nothing spectacular in my book...its pretty much a cupcake...and im not an icing fan...i took one bite of the icing and it was way too sweet for my buds...but it came in a nifty togo cupcake box... definitely a "sweet" idea ... i hope it has lasting power! i definitely recommend it! the interior is decorated nicely and its a fun place to go for a quick after dinner dessert! everything we had was about $3 each
  5. ethos was good...i had the shephards pie ... basically everythign you normally would have minus the meat...so if you can stomach that...its good stuff.. choco chip cookie was yummy as well! went to cefiore in college park a couple times recently...super duper yummy! acai berry so far is my fav...this is the closest we have to pink berry in orlando right now.... anyone want to invest in a yogurt shop with me??? its all the rage on the westcoast..lets bring more to orlando!!! theres also is a place that is a cupcake / yogurt place that opened up recently in waterford sweetbyholly.com check em out! i might go see what they are all about tonight!

yea i saw that on their site...but i would surely try and open up a similar store..and at least stay open! ... i agree cold stone has never been open when i wanted an ice cream!! and volcanoes...there is not a coffee shop downtown that stays open late...closest thing is dessert lady
  7. since no one has posted since april..i feel its my duty to find out where people have eaten lately! has anyone been to hamburger marys that opened up on church street? i attempted to go on day 1, since i work nearby and they stopped accepting customers b/c they were too busy ... and wanted to assure great service to the current customers and not compromise future customers...i have yet to return yet...so what say UP'ers!

man i wish i had some money...i would turn the formerly known space as cool blue burrito into a pinkberry!
  9. yesterday, frankieb96 and I went to cool blue burrito at the plaza for lunch... i had a chicken bowl and he had a steak burrito... food was 'meh' nothing spectacular... and i think that plus 2 drinks ended up being about $18... i would have rather gone to urban flats and had 2 flats for about that price place was empty...but we went after lunch rush...1-2pm bring on more restaurant and retail at the plaza! tomorrow, a group of us will be trying out Ethos Vegan restaurant on Orange...not a vegan myself...so we will see how this goes!

    The Plaza

went to corona last weekend...definitely a nice place, love being able to sit outside and having plenty of outdoor seating vs there other locales, great people watching spot!
  11. yea i agree bento is not an end all be all sushi place... its a fast casual place...food is good for the price
  12. corona is open (as of monday), went in today after a lil stop at bento for some udon soup! this will be the spot on saturday for me! even though im not a smoker full bar is definitely nice, and the fact that you can drink outdoors and not some stuffy, small cramped bar is awesome!

    The Plaza

w00t Corona opened! it opened monday actually...went in and checked the place out tonight after having some SOUP! at bento (yumyum) it is huge...ill post the crappy pix i took later, i dont smoke but its a nice addition to downtown!
  14. shin is very good and more of a real sushi place...not your typical american japanese sushi, the menu changes often and everything i've ever had there has always tasted very fresh, very simple ambiance and super nice waiter, we always get Patrick and i love getting the hot towels before the meal
  15. i wasn't even aware they served dinner there...i thought it was a concert venue and made it country night on nights when there wasn't any concerts going on...after your review im not too excited about trying the food there though...maybe one day ill check out a concert there
  16. went to bento today for lunch, if you are in the mood for soup... i recommend the chicken katsu udon noodle soup! yum never heard of the cool blue burrito ...where is it suppose to go in the plaza? i havent seen signs of it yet... im excited about hamburger marys...the less expensive fast casual places seem to do real well downtown for both lunch and dinner! so a steak place from the makers of spice eh? its got some competition next door at ceviche...even though its a different cuisine...the food there is sooooo awesome! but yay to more food places downtown, ESPECIALLY in the main church street area where nothing has been the past few years! has anyone heard any feedback about the new cheyenne saloon? i've heard radio commercials advertising it as a very country bar/dance place ... a la 8seconds...the ambiance seems to appeal to a 30 and up country loving crowd (which i have no problem with...) but are enough of them going to continually go there? i think someone said opening night they had 500 in attendance for the lonestar concert... decent but not great for opening night... i've seen that onaturals place, are they trying to stay open late at night? if so...that may be where their business may be the most...its so close to the clubs that im sure a lot of the after clubbers want somewhere to sober up... well atleast hope they are getting some sort of business..its a neat looking building...but yea definitely detached from any other food establishments been to dessert lady twice in the last two weeks on fridays and its been steady there...and since im a little bitter about the service we had at brick &fire...i peek in to check the business in there...and its still the same... no matter how much business is open around it

yaaaay! we should all have a UP meet up at corona for opening night or is that just cheesy? hahah
  20. +1 ... love dessert lady that place was getting some great business...great staff, very friendly and love the atmosphere as a side note...as packed as that place was...i took a peek into brick & fire right behind dessert lady...and the place maybe had 2 tables of 2 people eating... something is going wrong there...

hah yea your prob right i never cared about the ppl that hung out at the corona at the dp location...our group would sometimes show up kinda scrubby in tshirts n jeans and they would give us the look like who are these hoodlums...but the staff doesnt think twice about us..always friendly service, they dont care what we look like, they always take our money hahahha
  22. yea im with you on the order at table rather then counter...but it works for downtown...once that plaza area gets super busy..that will be ideal for the restaurant to get the customers in/out the fastest, its just like how pei wei works glad you liked it if anyone wasn't aware this restaurant is the 3rd of 2 gville based restaurants .... very popular with the UF students

went to eat Bento Sushi Cafe yesterday and all the power was on great food at great prices, things are really starting to pick up at the plaza corona cigar is coming along nicely...i love how the inside looks like the outside of its dr phillips location
  24. a group of us went to Bento Sushi Cafe in the plaza (it just opened up this past wednesday) and it was awesome! great fast casual restaurant with a trendy atmosphere and the pricing was absolutely amazing. i got a chicken katsu bento box for $7 and the deluxe sushi rolls were huge and tasty for around $9! They have a huge menu with soups, rice bowls and lots of other goodies! yum yum! definitely recommend this downtown restaurant
  25. went to eat at cityfish in thorton park a couple weeks back and meant to make a post here but just remembered to! it was on sunday for their brunch, and it was absolutely amazing! i had the poached egg and ham on an english muffin, with red potatoes...it was absoutely delish! and my boyfriend had the french toast w/bananas and strawberrys ... also very very good! our server was absolutely attentive (boston guy) and best of all ... i had bought OJ from the farmers market earlier and had it w/me ... he's like do you want a glass for your OJ? and i thought the restaurant wouldnt even think to allow that...but he did...and i got to enjoy my fresh OJ w/brunch! all very very afforadable too! it was about $10 for each entree! definitely definitely recommend you guys try out their weekend brunch menu, it was absolutely great! two thumbs up!
