  1. Does anyone know what's going to be in the free standing structure in front of Whole Paycheck? I've heard various reports from Flemings to Ruths Chris (although I just heard that they're going to be at the Crowne Plaza property, so who knows) to an Golden Coral. I also heard that it will be a mix use building not just one store. Anyone? Thanks

  2. Does anyone else think that all of the little artisits spaces would be better served as restaurants/cafes with lots of outdoor seating? Two Thanksgivings ago we visited my sister in Round Rock and took a day trip the next day to S.A. While very commercial and touristy (kinda the point lol) the Riverwalk is awesome with all of the various restaurants with outdoor umbrella seating.

To me this is such prime real estate and is being wasted as art galleries. I'm all for these type of venues but perhaps in a location less prominant.

  3. Galley,

I laughed out loud when I read that you used the term buggies. My wife and I get a big kick out of this local coloquilism because everywhere else in the country they're referred to as shopping carts. Every time I hear the word buggy, it conjurs up images of a horse drawn carriage, specifically utilized by the Amish. Please don't take offense to this, I mean it with no malice. I love regional lingusitics and enjoy hearing uniquely indiginous terms. In Wisconsin they refer to water fountains as bubblers and in South Jersey where I'm originaly from sprinkles on top of ice cream are known as jimmies! Don't ask me why, I don't get it either. lol Depending upon where you live in the country a sandwich on a long oval shaped bread with meat and cheese can be known as a sub, hoagie, grinder, or po boy. Even though I often butcher it I love the english language.

  4. I hope my question didn't come across as hostile, that wasn't my intent and I apologize if it seemed that way. I'm very new to commercial real estate and don't know all of the "ins & outs". I honestly didn't know that it was normal to publicly display a developer/investors private info.

  5. RT,

My wife, dad and I drove through that area on our way to Austin a few weeks ago and I was shocked how beautiful the area is. The Hoover/Vestavia Hills suburbs of Birmingham are stunning with all of the green and hills. Dare I say, the area is prettier than the upstate? :o:o:o

Strangely enough we drove past both the Boy Scouts of America hq in Hoover (gorgeous building) and the Girl Scouts of america hq in Austin. Pretty neat coincidence.

  6. You beat me to it gsupstate. I was gonna suggest that exact spot. We refer to it as Highway 80, but I guess you're right, it is Vern Smith. I see cars parked there almost every time on on that road which is almost every day. I'm going to totally deviate for a second but I really feel that Vern Smith has the potential to be a full, limited access freeway with on and off ramps. We use it as an alternative to 14 and it shaves off about 8 minutes. If some forward thinking pols. took the initiative 80 could concievable connect 285 with 85 and 385. I know, I know as of now there is no 285, but is is my dream. As a matter of fact I'll start a new thread about it. lol

  7. Speaking of latin restaurants does anyone know what happened to the cuban restaurant Congas in the Bloom shopping center on Hwy 14? Their sign has been up on the marquee for months as well as the sign above the store itself. Hanging from the storefront was a sign reading, "coming soon". My wife and I were eagerly anticipating it's opening but I began to get suspicious when all I saw was the "coming soon" sign for at least 2 1/2 months. Well lo and behold today after our weekly church/lunch/whole foods/bloom sunday itinery the sign above the store has been taken down and a "for lease" sign is now up. Awkardly the sign on the marquee is still there.

Man I was jonesin' for some garlic chicken and plantains. YUM!!!!!!

  8. Yes Pita House, sorry. You're right it isn't persian food at all. They're Palastinian. It's pretty tasty buy trust me the difference between warm, slightly crispy pita and room temp is night and day. Thanks for the wellwishes gvsc. If Pomegranate is anything like I'm use to you'll love it. Persian food is absolutely delicious. I'm just afraid it's going to be a bit pricey, hope not though. Adrock, yup Persepolis is amazing, we just may take a trip to Atl. just for the lunch buffet again. lol

  9. Having moved from LA 2 1/2 months ago one of the few things we truely miss is the accessability of every and any type of ethnic food which was so readily available in SoCal. Two days after we moved into our new home we found out that we're pregnant (should know the gender next week, future star qb, me thinks  )lol. Anyhoo, most women crave ice cream, pickles or some derivation thereof. Not my wife she's cravin' persian food, all the time. Two weeks ago we had persian food 3 x's in 6 days, seriously. One day for lunch in Chapel Hill when we were there for business, then 3 days later in Atlanta at an all you can eat persian buffet called Persepolis. The place was packed and had all sorts of grilled kabobs, hummus, dolmas, dipping sauces, feta, hot fresh pita oooh I'm drooling as I type this. I've probably had persian food over 2 dozen times in Los Angeles and this place was the best we've ever had. My wife was in pregnancy culinary craving heaven. Two days later we dropped her friend off at Charlotte airport afterward we stopped of at, yup, you guessed it another persian restaurant. Again, very good food.

Needless to say when we found out a couple of months ago about this new persian restaurant coming to downtown we were/are elated. If it's anywhere comparable to the places we ate at in Atl. or Clt. we will be frequent guests. Persian food rocks!

I've been to the pita hut, (I think that's what it's called) and they don't even heat up the pita, cold pita, yech and the owner was not friendly at all. Please dear Lord, let Pomegranate be delicious and reasonably priced. Okay, borderline lunatic digression over.

  10. Sorry about that I didn't mean that the $10 o/w wasn't a promotion, I meant that a lot of their non promo fares are absurdly low and I don't know of any other airline that offers $25, $40 and $50 o/w fares. Even the example that you gave which is in line with most airlines does have a $60 fare however go one more month to August and it's all $40,$60 and $80 fares max. Should be interesting to see how they fare. (Pun intended  )

Sorry I wasn't articulating myself very well last night, I'll chalk it up to being tired. lol

  11. I do know that and you are correct. However, right, wrong or indifferent Greenville has more cachet than Spartanburg. Besides I was extolling the virtues of the upstate area but I did take some artistic liberty. Sorry :whistling:

  12. Here's the letter I just sent them:

    Hi,

I notice that your business model is quite unique in that you serve primarily secondary and tertiary airports that are in close proximity to major cities, i.e Bellingham(Vancouver/Seattle), Portsmouth(Boston) etc. I reside in a city that fits this model exactly and has a state of the art airport.

Greenville, SC is conviently located 1 hour and 20 minutes from Charlotte, NC and 2 hours and 20 minutes from Atlanta on the busy I85 corridor. Greenville is the North American home to BMW, Michellin and Hubbel Lightning as well as a tourist destination to the beautiful lakes and mountains of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mts. GSP is a state of the art airport and can serve your airline quite well.I believe Skybus and GSP are an ideal match. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Seriously we are exactly what type of city they're looking o serve. I mean if they can fly into Portsmouth, NH and St. Augustine, FL, then G'ville is a no brainer. Best thing to do is send them a suggestion extolling our virtues and close proximity to two major cities.

  13. I wonder if skybus is considering gsp. They're a new startup based in Columbus, Ohio and have a realllllllly unique way of doing business, not sure if it's good or bad but it is unique. They almost exclusively use secondary and in some cases tertiery airports for their flights, keeping the costs low, real low. For example a flight from Greensboro to Columbus can be purchased for $10 each way, $20 r/t! plus tax. No that wasn't a typo. Boston is served by Portsmouth, NH. Charlotte/Raleigh by Greensboro, Seattle and Vancouver are combined into one megalopolis and served by Bellingham, Wa. Hartford is served by Springfield, Mass; Los Angeles is served by Burbank, so on and so forth. They are the epitome of no frills but if you can fly from Greensboro to LA via Columbus for $120 r/t, so what. The really weird thing is every, yes, every flight begins and ends in Columbus. You have to get off of your plane, get your luggage and check in another flight if Columbus isn't your final destination, which odds are it isn't. This is really weird and a majo inconvenience but helps keep thir costs low.

The reason we are right up their alley is that we are smack dab in between to metropolis and skybus could serve Atlanta/Cahrlotte via GSP. I am seriously betting they will be here soon if they succeed.

Here's a link to their website so eveyone can see what I'm talking about:
