    I went to the I Love America celebration last night and I have to say that it is pretty cool when you have 25% of an entire metro area show up to an event.

    Lotteries in most states have all turned out to be failed promises. They promise that they will do such and such with the money but when the reports come out they have mismanaged it. We all know that if we ran our businesses like the gov't, we would go bankrupt. I would almost rather see a private company build a highway with billboards and/or some toll system to compensate their costs.

    Sometimes I tend to think grand. I think it would be ideal but to nail down the logistics would be very difficult. There's nothing worng with dreaming is there?

    My work is taking me to NWA alot recently. An obvious upgrade is needed on the expressway system. If city planners act now, they could reserve land for future highways. I think a grid-type of expressway system would work good. Since there is no "central" city a loop would not work well. This design would help to weave in and out of the whole area. Something like this, what do you think?

    I just wanted to comment that it is nice to see so many people that are concerned and involved with the development of their community. Some other cities (St. Louis, KC) havent had posts in months

    Good job city planners. Have you ever tried to go Southbound on National at around 4 or 5 pm?

    It's not that putting a third lane in is an absolute necessity right now, I just hope that they have built the interchange to easily handle a third lane when needed. If they build the interchange with only two lanes in mind, then when they have to add a third lane it will cost more in the long run to have to redo bridges, interchanges, etc.

    Diamond interchanges work well if they have multiple turn lanes at the intersection. If they don't widen it to six lanes then that is some of the worst city planning that I have ever seen.

    yeah it's coming along nice. I get to pass by it once a week and see the progress.

    I44 going to 8 lanes is just a proposal. More than likely it will only be 6

    I agree with MSU bear. I REALLY hope that they are adding a third lane on the I44&65 and 65&60 interchanges. With the rate of growth in the area a third lane will be needed on I44, 65, and 60 in the near future. If MoDot didn't plan for that then they are retarded.

    What are everyone's thoughts on a east-west or north-south limited access expressway through Springfield + downtown? It would obviously reduce traffic on the main arteries, but do you think it would be cost effective? Also where could one go without tearing down whole blocks of the city?
