  1. I have heard they are also putting an HHgregg on exit 18 on Harris Blvd. (near Ethan Allen). Given that they just opened those other 2 and are opening a 3rd I think it would be unlikely they would open a 4th near uptown. But you never know.
  2. There are a lot of people who despise the inefficient use of land created by suburbs and value urban settings and lifestyles. Those are the people who will pay that 200k. I mean I frankly don't care if my house is 3 bedrooms if it means I have to drive through 45 minutes of traffic just to get to my hideous cookie cutter development. I would rather pay the extra, reap the benefits of a more urban lifestyle and be contributing to the health and vitality of our downtown. ...sidenote: how do u quote on here?
  3. On a related note they had a huge crane up on their lot this past weekend. It was temporary, however, and appeared to have a cameraman up top simply taking pictures of the views for the sales office.
  4. Not sure if anyone has posted this before, but for those of us who have never seen it, I stumbled upon a model of what BofA's Two Corporate Center was supposed to look like. It can be found at the following address: http://www.dudapaine.com/home.html (click on the box on the left that says two corporate center)
  5. Pappas Properties has added a rendering of this project looking from the little sugar creek greenway http://www.pappasproperties.com/proj_midtown.htm
  6. Does anyone have a rendering (or even know the name) of the 4 story building currently under construction in Dilworth between Kenilworth and Scott (across from the carolinas medical center behind Latta Pavillion)?
  7. I don't like the building/location either, but given NASCAR's desire for "longevity" and repeat visitors I think this bid has a really great chance of winning. Frankly, I have heard little of what the exhibits for our bid would be, but KC has said they will have a ride that simulates a race and talking exhibits for each driver. Our building is gorgeous, but to a NASCAR fan that is almost irrelevant, especially since you can see the building without paying the entrance fee. Bottom line: The building may be boring but the suburban location's RV friendly nature and the innovative displays/rides make this an extremely competitive bid. ....although I still say that depsite KC being in the middle of the country I think it's location hurts rather than helps this bid.
  8. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but for those interested M Street broke ground about two weeks ago.
  9. Getting the HOF is important for the following reasons: -There is talk of rotating the Nextel All Star race to other cities. -Getting the HOF would likely lead to the All Star race remaining in Charlotte. -If the all star race remains in Charlotte it generates money for local businesses and helps give Charlotte more publicity and tourism dollars (hotels, etc...) -The HOF would also generate increased acitivity and tourism dollars spent downtown, increasing the vibrancy of downtown. -90% of all NASCAR teams are based in the Charlotte region. -NASCAR is responsible for 24,000 NC jobs -NASCAR has an annual economic impact of $5.1 billion. Any shift away from the concentration of NASCAR assets, events, and businesses in the Charlotte region is BAD for the economy. So that is why the HOF is important whether you like NASCAR or not.
