  1. thats an awesome mock up. It doesnt exactly fit in with our actual line now though. I would love to be able to take the rail to get anywhere in Charlotte, but I am going to have to keep dreaming. I still am puzzled why Cats hasnt done anything for Providence Rd with some kind of rail or streetcar like Muni. It would be beautiful. Funding for these projects is going to be very difficult to get though
  2. the materials on this project are going to be beyond awesome for charlotte
  3. really there are only 4 full floor units, and I think the will sell. 6,300 sq ft is a ton of space for the price/location
  4. 8 of 20 units in Encore are under contract as well. The bigger money ones are still up for grabs, with only one full floor penthouse sold, but overall, looking good for this project.
  5. When my house was purchased a vacant lot behind us was supposedly unbuildable. A Mansion went up, totally out of place, breaking zoning restrictions. Nagging the zoning board about it didnt stop them from approving it. Life sucks, now my backyard is the movietheater and gunroom of a 10,000sqft house on a 1/4 of an acre. Zoning restrictions rarely mean squat in charlotte. Sorry, I understand your prospective, and it sucks, but I really doubt youll be able to do anything.
  6. Niketown, Niketown, Niketown... If I keep on thinking about it really hard, maybe it will happen? Or a Saks 5th. Ohhh we could rejuvenate uptown so much, and hopefully stimulate the desire to move highend retail back uptown. So much potential, do this right and it could be great. do it wrong, and we could have another founders hall.
  7. you now have me excited... arg ive been waiting for this one for so long!
  8. 2inthepink, your going to probably be let down. Our neighbors managed to sidestep the zoning laws and are building a monstrosity. Yeah, we called the zoning office every day to make sure they didnt get a permit. and they did.
  9. I hopefully will get a tour of the epicenter soon. I will snap some pics for the UP
  10. I think you may be incorrect, there are tons of companies looking for uptown office space right now even though they have none, and many companies in uptown are looking for more. I know several personally who would like a lot more. If Charlotte can continue growth, more businesses that enter the market will enter in uptown rather then Ballentyne and Southpark. Charlotte's office market won't deteriorate to 10% Vacancy for a while unless something big and drastic happens.
  11. I dont understand what that has to do with anything... no ones talking about hip hop music... If the theater is being restored, the preservationists should be happy someone else is footing the bill, not complaining that they are playing ELECTRIC GUITAR in a music and theater venue, thats a joke
  12. I agree, take the 7 train in nyc into queens, and it is an amazing sight with all the graffiti on the warehouses with the nyc skyline in the background, that sucks
  13. I wonder why Cats wont consider doing what is done in San Francisco... they have their light rail cars (Muni) on the streets, in a lane that can be driven in when the rail isnt around (I dont think your supposed to but everyone does), and when its around, it is on its rail... not exactly that different from a bus, but they control have a set path and in rush hour they can get around the traffic much more quickly. do something like that down providence road... even put up boundaries around the lanes for the light rail, it would cut into the space cars have to move, but most definitely would give some good reason to ride the system
  14. my fingers are staying crossed for the week... its NOT going to be a next big thing right?
  15. Thats not shallow thats the truth! Trump will do a lot more then add to the skyline with this project
  16. thats how you develope, i know its cheesy but BUILD IT!
  17. yep once i saw that rendering it was bittersweet, the office building looks a bit better though
  18. well now im excited... change the name and I really like the project. though it does seem like residential "luxury" buildings are just being put down whereever the developer pleases, no sort of luxury are, but it leads to a bit of diversity, so thats good, there just wont be an area where you can walk down the block and see fancy condos and a rolls royce driving by...
  19. well then very cool, I like the building and think it will be a cool fit right there. I wish they would give this project a better name though, I am kinda tired of Catalyst, Trademark, and now Encore those names are cheesy (maybe avenue too because its not on an avenue right?) but otherwise looks cool
  20. cool but is it real? looks like it was done on sketchup
  21. wow i really dont like the office tower... i hope that it looks better then that, right now to me it looks like a off the highway office building with a huge parking lot around it not urban
  22. they are breaking ground on catalyst today
  23. its funny when i was in nyc i met many high schoolers from all over the world and many of them didnt know where charlotte was or didnt understand it was a large city...
