In an ideal world, the crosstown would be elevated with public space underneath. I just don't think there's enough room to do any significant streetscaping. And no one is going to let the city repeat the 1960s and just plow through and tear down more structures for the sake of the crosstown. Incidentally, these are things I dream about while sitting in traffic on these respective roads.

Personally, I think if they're going to do away with the arteries into and out of downtown Charleston, they should at the very least abolish the street parking on Calhoun Street. But I don't forsee that happening.

Apple is putting a store in at 301 King Street - former home to Granny's Goodies and Cumberlands. Not sure when it's expected to open, but they've already begun renovations on the building. It will be interesting to see if Apple's stainless steel facade makes it past the BAR...

I'm curious - has anyone heard anything about the former Parisian location in Peachtree Mall? (I was kind of shocked that Belk passed on the opportunity.)
