  1. i love H&M. i'm talking about florida mall. that place is a cesspool. why would you waste an H&M there?? put it where people will actually go to it. ...downtown.
  2. worst news i heard all day. why would ANYbody waste there time investing in the florida mall?

    The Plaza

there are other cities where theaters work downtown. seattle is great example. two very busy theaters are located right down, a Pacific and a UA. so i think it could work. those theaters are walking distance to a big neighborhood (capital hill). downtown orlando is really becoming another neighborhood anyway, why wouldn't a movie theater work there? unfortunately these corp heads look at some spreadsheet that somone has made regarding statistics that are very broad.
  4. or perhaps its a bar where straight people are trying to make babies right there on the tables.
  5. just wanted to congratulate all you guys who are able to experience this first hand back home. i am envious. but i also want to thank all of you for your part in getting this done for i know UP had some influence! hail forum!!
  6. not to be a pessimist, but orlando = straight to video. gone are the "parenthood" days. not that they can't be lived again. its just sad to see such low level movies being produced here. but i guess its better than nothing.
  7. not sure if anyone has posted this yet... a little blurb from over on warchant.
  8. that could explain why its significantly shorter than all the other exisiting and planned wheels around the world...by at least 200 ft.
  9. florida is a right to work state. the performance unions don't have nearly as much power here as they do in california. in fact the opposite is happening, the unions "strongarming" is causing work to leave california in droves. and it has been that way for at least ten years now. i think the issue with orlando getting studios is still its image. it hasn't recovered from the "hollywood east" title it tried to adapt back in the late 80s and early 90s. in the entertainment industry its going to be extremely hard to shake the "strictly theme park town" title that everyone outside of orlando gives us. to be honest, i think miami has more of a good chance of adapting that industry since a lot more production is already done down there and its kind of a darling in the industry right now with all the celebrities that live and play there. my $.02
  10. its no uglier than anything at wetNwild. of course, i've always though wNw was an eyesore anyway.
  11. there are some pretty amazing photos over on the ski dubai site. both UC and completed, inside and out. ski dubai i don't think it will be the tallest structure in orlando but will certainly be one of the most impressive and intriquing.
  12. Happy Fairwinds Credit Union Day everybody! i hope all your dreams and wishes come true on this wonderful holiday!
  13. true, but you can't tell me that the more and more dubai is developed, the more and more american influx will happen.
  14. is it just me or does anybody think this whole dubai thing is kind of doomed? i mean, putting a super concentrated version of a junior united states of america with even taller buildings in the middle of al qaida's back yard is probably not the smartest move.
  15. we had larger retail before but because the downtown ped traffic was always strictly transient they could not survive. now that we finally have a burgeoning residential presence happening, its much more stable for retail. it will happen eventually. its not that locals won't take the risk, its just never been as good a market as it is turning into.
  16. i think lost in all this discussion is the original thought that kuhn sounds like he may be wanting to bring a little millinia flavor to CSS. Sure H&M would go well in Millinia, but it would also go a long way to lure higher end tenants to kuhns new place if he was to bag them.
  17. '"We have grown dramatically, but sometimes you have to take two steps back to take one step forward," Nickerson said.' i hope he meant to say one step back to take two steps forward.
  18. wow. two new leagues trying to tap into the NFLs market at the same time. will they ever learn??? imho, orlando is only gonna be a laughing stock to the rest of the country by going down this road again. if we wanna be in the same calaber as the Little Rocks and the Davenport Iowa's, then lets keep trying this crap. no offense to anyone from those two cities. i'm sure they are fine municipalities. besides, i don't think i could handle another team with neon green jerseys with purple and gold trim.
  19. if a man can't have his dreams, what can he have? if a man can't have his dreams, what can he have? sorry for the deja voodoo. i'm piggybacking off a shoddy internet connection at work.
  20. what is the flying unicorn? that kinda sounds like a ride.
  21. its just as well, 55w is tall enough. it'd be nice not to impede Suntrust any more that it already is. at least from that angle. and having a midrise there will only make the density look more packed. ...yay! 100 posts!
