My understanding was that Visart will not be affected by the redevelopment? At least that's what the clerk at Visart told me. Per her, the strip mall is actually two different buildings -- the redevelopment will take out the left half (containing Roy's Flowers and maybe the sub shop). No idea how accurate this is, just what I was told.

Is the Dollar Store shopping center for sale? I could have sworn I saw a for-sale banner up on the backside of the building (as you drive up Central coming from uptown). Update ---- False alarm. I drove by again, and it's just a space available banner. Clearly some wishful thinking on my part.

Does anybody have any updates on Intermezzo, the restaurant going up around the 5 points area? It looks like some progress has been made - landscaping mostly. Just curious as to what all they plan.

I just drove by what you're talking about, but I thought it said "Optimist Park is a neighborhood not a junkyard." Then again, I only had a moment to make it out so I could be way off.

FWIW, I've heard that Jacks definitely is moving into the old Steeple space and am told that they will upgrade the current site to include a kitchen.

Has work on Central27 slowed/stalled? I don't drive by it all that often, but there doesn't appear to have been much progress lately.

Earlier in this thread (maybe halfway through), a poster named Turbocraig wrote this: a friend of mine is opening a vegetarian based restaurant @ the corner of central and thomas st. where once stood a dry cleaner. there will be a focus on breakfast but he also talked of being open late @ night, but not a 24 venue. anyways, the name being floated around for the time being is "RISE and SHINE, 28205". i doubt that will end up being the final name... but who knows. the owner of this place is a born & bred charlottean and has tons of pride in the heritage of the city... it should be nice. If you run a search on "vegetarian" in this thread, I believe all the related threads will come up. Hope this helps.

I'm afraid I can't update you on Intermezzo, but I do hear that a wine bar is going in behind the Common Market and is set to open around next June.
