  1. I've noticed that there are first run movies now. That's pretty cool. It seems to me like this year, what with some of the animated and youth-oriented releases, the drive-in has been absolutely raging. I've driven up 112 several evenings when the line was backed up close to the fairgrounds to get into the lot. It actually deterred me from going this summer, but I'm very glad to hear they are planning to keep it in the mix. And yeah, i can't really see it moving either. Just going away when it eventually does close. Anyone know when the drive-in shuts for the season roughly?
  2. i'd like to see them. that is a lot of dough, but views will get the cash. i wonder if anything is posted online about them. on his site?
  3. Cool. That will be nice to have. I just hope that it doesn't meant the whole area there will get developed. You know how other stores will want to be near a Sam's. I worry about the drive-in.. I would hate to lose that. Maybe it could move, worst case scenario.
  4. I know they had devised a pretty cool water runoff system to help protect the wetland area around there. I was pleased to hear that they had done that since i live over in that wetland. They were discussing widening 112 for that as well, weren't they? That will be a fairly major artery if there is a Sam's club right there, I would think. I know a neighbor said they are talking about widening Howard Nickel (sp?) to four lanes alone.
  5. Heck, Goshen already is the affluent rural area. I can't belive that now, when people refer to someone who just moved to Goshen, we all ooh and ahh. I mean, who would have thought? It is very pretty out there though. I'm partial to West Fayetteville. It will eventually come together and have a feel, though I'm not sure what it will end up feeling like... It's so kind of dotted with things now, it hasn't come together just yet. Hey, what ever happened with the Sam's Club on 112? I have managed to miss all news of that. You guys are now my news source.
  6. We are setting up a huge metal/ hardcore festival in NWA for the spring. It'll be called Slaughter Fest. Big Big Big names will be there as long as everything works out. well good luck with that festival. maybe it will be an inspiration to others to pull something off.
  7. well awesome. but it is in October? i can't remember, is Oktoberfest just in the fall sort of? like generally, i mean, or is it always October? that sounds really ditzy, but i'm serious.
  8. You know, Mountain View's Folk Festival used to kind of incorporate the Irish theme in with the folk music stuff too. that was cool because most people from these parts are of Irish descent. I think Oktoberfest would be a great idea too. Lots of good places to set up a big tent area with beer and tables. Someone get on that!
  9. totally. i was just thinking this morning about the ES Folk Festival this weekend and why is that never us? why can't we have a real blues event, or a real bluegrass event? i know eureka is just made for festivals because of the freakishly large ratio of places to stay, but this town can handle it too. people could stay all over nwa. i really would be all for having some music festivals. Lord knows there's plenty of folks that would come. my friend that owns Greenhouse Grille actually was the person who put together and produced the Great Unknown Music Festival here for the past five years. It's done, however, so I hope someone else picks up where he left off. it could be a great way to spark interest to get these venues designed and built.
  10. On Dickson, that info about Chester is awesome. I never knew that personally, but I love that kind of Fayetteville history. There is a performer, Bob Wist (anyone know him?) and he's a childhood friend of one of my dad's closest buddies.. Anyway, he plays a lot of sort of regional music. Regional in the sense that it refers to fayettville and "old schuler town" etc. I just sat and cried when I heard him sing those songs. I'm a huge sap about Fayetteville history of any kind. I really want to find more cool facts like this about Chester. Thanks for that. i'm going to go do research so i can share that with my friends.
  11. I also agree about the music scene and the trees.. We have a new maple blown down every couple of weeks in our neighborhood. That's all we were lucky enough to get, were maples. They aren't mature and being in a valley and a wetland (don't even get me started on that one), the neighborhood gets bad winds. Now, there are a bunch of maple shrubs. It irks me. The original trees were so much more appropriate but I guess the developers couldn't be bothered to keep some of them.. And you know, music used to be such a bigger deal in F'ville. Local stuff. Remember Lucious Spiller? There used to be a lot of local bands that we were really proud of. I think it has to do with the way Dickson has developed. It doesn't attract a live music kind of crowd anymore. All sorority girls and whatnot. It almost needs to be a bit grittier like the old days..
  12. Here's the link to the Lakewood thing http://www.cbfaucette.com/PropertyDetail.a...ropertyList.asp and then the Maison Sequoyah http://www.cbfaucette.com/PropertyDetail.a...ropertyList.asp that was all the info I could glean. I'm just curious. Sure does seem like a lot of folks must want condos. I just can't imagine what would make less than 800 square feet feel that desirable..
  13. I think I'll go back and read that again. Get some info. I'm curious now. And even moreso about the Sequoyah one. It said it was on a ridge overlooking F'ville. Hmm...
  14. The thing about Lakewood said it was near the mall, I believe. And it was another "garden homes" development. $199 K type houses, like Rupple Row. I happen to live in one of the first of these developments and I'm glad that the design concept is catching on. I think, I'm glad that is. I may not be when I'm ready to sell and there are 50 of these developments...
  15. Hello all- Local F'ville girl here- Not forever from F'ville, but an Arkie forever. I have a question. I could spend all day reading to find out if this has been answered, but i already did that on some other forums. Who can tell me about Maison Sequoyah and then also the Lakewood development? I just ran across these spaces for sale on cbfaucette and I'm curious. I can't keep up. Also can't find a good website for Wellspring, though I've heard lots of rumors about pink houses and the such. Any comments? Also, the Greenhouse Grille is f'ville best new place to get fed. I love it!
