  1. From the Spectrum Health employee announcements today. I am excited to get a look inside. Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion Open Houses: All staff and physicians are invited to a Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion open houses Friday, June 20 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, June 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A community open house will be held Sunday, June 22 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Event parking will be available in the ramp under the Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion. The entrance is on Coit Avenue just north of Michigan Street.
  2. Bobby J's in Cheshire Village will open on July 9th. This is the second location for local resturant owners, the other is on Jefferson across from Discussions Coffee Shop. Good food, good prices, and usually good service.
  3. New BBQ/Chicken place will be opening on Plainfield just south of Creston Business District. Speaking of which, took a peak into Red Ball Jet this morning and they have 2 postings on the door. One is a menu teaser for breakfasts (omelete, fritatta) and also wood fired oven pizzas. No mention of cocktails that I saw on the teaser. Also, they are accepting applications on site and at the B.O.B. if anyone is looking for work. ________________ every time a friend succeeds, i die a little - Gore Vidal
  4. Monarch Club is real nice. I sat there enjoying some porter and imagined the small but cozy interior packed with patrons on a cool fall evening. They have a small food menu, and there liquor selection needs to improve vastly, but they haven't even had there grand opening yet (Oct 13th). Tried to watch a bit of a baseball playoff game from the booths on the same side of the bar as 4th street, but a large structural post blocks the view of the largest TV - strange arrangement. Overall, excellent beer selections on draft and in bottle/can.
  5. Bar Louie is to open today. Stopped there yesterday and they were finishing training the staff, but still didn't have the liquor license in their hands. The gentleman at the door did tell us they would be opening today though. It is inside the Woodland Mall, but has plenty of outdoor seating right across from On The Border, and near the new Cinemark.
