  1. It looks like a reincarnation of the Blair House condos... of course, those weren't sold for a half a million a piece.
  2. Yep, the problem as noted on this forum before is that many of them are not of very high quality. Unfortunately, they're selling remarkably well.
  3. Lexy, I drove from Knoxville to Nashville today and passed the airport. I noticed that there is (what appears to be) overflow parking on the opposite side of I-40. Is that airport parking? All the lots looked full.
  4. Lexy, that pic of the AA planes lined up at the gates amazes me. I thought they were pretty bare-bones in BNA these days. I recall seeing only three gates last time I went through there. Was that pic taken at the peak in the evening? They haven't added any flights have they?
  5. Nah... it's a "separate building"... hehe.
  6. Airbus (EADS) gets a huge amount of its funding from the EU governments. Unfortunately, it's a huge jobs program that pays less than enough attention to production management for the sake of setting up plants in politically powerful regions. Basically, it's poorly run.
  7. Wow... Counting the ones in the pics, and 5 and Main, that's 15 right now. And they're not coming down for several months. If the BBS and Westin towers get going by late spring, then it's possible that those two (or three) will be added to the mix. Can you imagine what the Rolling Mill Hill and or Sounds Ballpark (or even Signature) would look. Damn, Nashville's DT would look like a Chinese suburb. LOL All of that would be worth a drive up just to see!
  8. Another thing. Looking at the photo above of the Hampton, I'm so glad to see that it comes all the way to the sidewalk and parking is underground. I'm not overly excited about the Hampton going there, but I appreciate the it will bring moderate priced lodging downtown. I think it's a waste for where it's located. Something bigger and office oriented could have gone there. Plus, I don't think anybody has seen a recent rendering of the Hampton... but they are so often very bland. Looks like it's coming along fine.
  9. ^^^ Across what street? Gateway or 4th? The property across 4th was recently bought by Tower Investments and is part of the site of the proposed convention center. It runs roughly along the proposed extension of Gateway to 8th. I think a church is across Gateway from the Hampton. I think that's staying.
  10. Does anybody know the status of the Cumberland Shores Marina Condos off Lebanon Road? I would think that that project would need at least a smaller crane. Buildings are 4-6 stories, but lots of docks to be built.
  11. Now that's what I'm talking about!! Thank-ye, Thank-ye, Thank-ye as Gomer Pyle would say. Great photos, especially for those of us who don't see Nashville often. It's also amazing to me how much the gulch is starting to look like a part of DT. I'm imagining the photo of the Encore with Signature, Westin and BBS towers built in there. That will be truly dense from that angle.
  12. Does anybody know if this is in response to higher demand on those days... or are they just adjusting their initial plan to drive demand.
  13. So how many is that now in the DT vicinity? Suntrust......... 1 Encore..... ......1 5th and Main....1 Hampton.........1 Icon................2 Vandy Dorms...3 Vandy Hospital.1 The West End...1 I know I've missed one or two. What else???
  14. I'm amazed at how much buzz this project is still causing when there's really no news on it. What's more, I'm surprised that this thread is still the most popular especially when there are so many other projects that have actual NEWS associated with them. Don't go beyond this point if you don't want to read my complaints! Guess I'm a bit dismayed that so much attention is being paid to one project that's still just a proposal. Being so far away from Nashville, I have only a few sources for information on the latest projects... but I've been really let down by the lack of substantive information on real projects lately. For instance... this morning's article that the Sounds BP doesn't have financing. Also, did anybody here say that Giarratana had started on his Belle Meade TC? No, I read about it in the Tennesseean (gasp!). Also, I had to get the news there that Meridian is nixed. I know all of you guys have lives (I also work 50 hours per week too), but there are a lot of eyes on the ground up there (are there not?). I appreciate that most of you aren't prone to bloviating about some new WalMart or Target or some new bank branch somewhere. I also appreciate that most do not engage in pure rumor milling. But I know there's a lot to talk about in Music City. Even well substantiated rumors have a place in the coffee house. Just please present them as such. I know it's trouble to post pictures all the time, but where are the updates on projects under construction? I love Lexy's work, but you other shutterbugs don't have to be Lexy to make me happy. I know it's not easy to take pictures of places as you whizz by them on your way to wherever... you don't see a lot of my pics here. I floated a few subjects not long ago about various topics, and they were genuine attempts to stimulate debate among the group (whose insight I enjoy reading). I don't take it personally that they didn't get much interest, but I did think they were much more interesting than speculating on a 100' hole that may get built sometime in the future. Maybe I'm asking too much of UP. Perhaps I should just be satisfied getting my news wherever/whenever I happen to stumble on it. It's still fun to peak in on the Nashville forum. So thanks.
  15. They did announce that it was going to make Titans runs. Did they do it last home game?
  16. Couldn't agree more. I try to do the same thing when I cite rumors and other new info. I have passed on info from a flimsy source in the past, but I've noted as much. I've even withheld rumors like the one about Publix going into Chattanooga b/c the developer is a personal friend of mine. I knew about that one for at least six months. There are two other ones that could be big for Nashville, but I'm going to let the companies' announce. I'll tell (If/when) they go public. Still iffy on both.
  17. Gaushell, I find your posts informative and appropriate. I understood what you meant with that pro/con thing.
  18. OK... so this is a long time in development (BTW: nothing that wasn't already explained at the onset of this project). It's not even 2007 yet, but some here are already putting this thing in its pine box. As far as rumors, they swirl all over the place all the time... and many times they contradict each other. There have been some pretty wild rumors on this thread. If you really want some fantastical rumors, go to the Atlanta forum. So just chill and at least let this year come to a close. I just don't think that Giarratana would be foolish enough to keep this ruse flying until some groundbreaking date comes and goes with no groundbreaking. He'd have major egg on his face then. At least now, he has made it clear that he's working like hell to get this out of the ground, and it's all a gamble anyway. So be patient. If there's no dirt turned by (say) next May, then you can pretty much write this one off as a dream that never happened. Personally, I won't think any less of Giarratana for having the guts to shoot for the moon.
  19. LOL... At least you can watch the World Series. I've got it on and this forum (and my other favorite one) up and a four year old "winding up" next to me at every pitch.
  20. What's flicka and pink spiders? I know who billy ray cyrus is... he's singing the anthem at the WS game tonight.
  21. So how would you propose strong-arming CSX? Don't they own all the rights of way for the other routes? In the absence of an agreement with CSX, the RTA obviously needs a backup plan. Hasn't the point been made that they won't be able to build all the other lines as economically as the Lebanon route?
  22. I don't know about most of those airlines as the names of them only appear on the commuter lines that I've flown when I haven't flown the hometown airline. Unfortunately, I agree with you about Delta. It used to be great. Those were the days I have been satisfied with SWA. My expectations weren't very high. Used to hate American, but my experiences in recent years have not been bad. Service sucked on USAir. NWA, I just remembered the Memphis airport looking so drab and a lack of places to eat. Continental wasn't bad that I remember.
  23. Maybe someday, BNA will be a SWA hub. That just doesn't sound right. Lexy, heard anything else about Frontier's growth plans? Are there any?
