  1. I would rather have it downtown, its better for the downtown businesses, Iam a magic fan and go to at least 7 or 8 games a year and always hit up a bar or club downtown afterwards. Why should I be forced to go to City walk and pay $7.50 for a beer or drive 10 miles into town when im already half drunk. And isnt the commuter rail not going to be bypassing I drive? I think the Marlins are a good idea, and I think this town is ready for another pro team. Hey I just remembered, correct me if iam wrong but isnt San Antonio's Alamo dome set up for basketball but can also handle big field sports like football and baseball, if this is true why not do that here, build a huge $500 million stadium that can be converted to different sports, that would surely make a huge visual impact downtown and be very innovative and smart!

  2. So design work has started before site location has been finalized? Seems a little off...

    Also, from the Sentinel...

City leaders: Downtown arena a must

Orlando leaders drew sharper battle lines Monday on where to build a new arena, saying Orange County politicians' flirtation with moving it to International Drive may undercut the city's support for the project.

"If the arena goes to International Drive, I simply will not vote for it," City Commissioner Daisy Lynum said. "It makes no sense."

If this new arena doesnt go downtown im gathering everyone i know for petitions and a boycot

  3. Part of the reason the Courthouse looks taller is because of the gimmick they pull with the windows. Unline SunTrust or BoA, which have distinct, square, floor-by-floor windows, the Courthouse's windows don't clearly mark every floor. Instead, they're solid verticle stripes up the entire legnth of the building. It's exaggerated height is an optical illusion.

Yeah that makes alot of sense, on the flipside i think BOA looks short for its 409ft listing i guess its because of those huge blocky windows, and maybe because of its tiered shape and wide base.

  4. I recently heard from someone about the "software" operation going in somewhere near Ocala; someone looking to buy a house for an investment property was telling me this.

For all who are knowledgeable about Ocala, what's the deal with development there. In other words, when I look at a map, I notice that from Leesburg to Ocala along 441/27 going up thru Lady Lake and the Villages, it looks like continuous development right into Ocala. Is this how it actually is?

Iam from Orlando and currently live in Orlando, but my father lives in Ocala, and i can tell you that development from Wildwood through Gainesville is going bananas. Personally Ocala is not for me but ive heard property values are still going strong, and construction is full steam ahead in that region. Alot of "snowbirds" are buying houses/property also. I think the Villages are one of the fastest growing towns in the country but mostly older retired people are the ones moving there.

  5. I think it has been said that its between 10-12 feet. But, I was just thinking yesterday, what if the "official" height of the OC Cthse is wrong? What if its taller than emporis and other databases have it listed as?

The courthouse does look tall for its listed height to me anyways. I was driving back in town on I4 yesterday from deland and from the wesh news tower and on down the skyline looks great, that was my first trip westbound on I4 since the vue has been up and it looks great from that angle especially cuz thats its slender side makes it look deceivingly taller. There is a slight gap between the courthouse and the vue that when dynetech goes up will fill it in nicely giving that angles view considerable density.

  6. Welcome to the forum bucktown.

Just curious as to why your first post was in The Vue cosntruction thread. Are you looking to purchase a unit there?

While we're talking about, all other outside opinions aside it, looks good from all angles. Do we know what floor they are on currently?

Tim3167 sure can't wait for the 15th, we sure could use some of that awesome photography.

No im not purchasing in the vue, I live in MetroWest/Varanda Park (which is not the safest place to be anymore) I just love this project and looking forward to it being topped off. Does anyone know the ground elevation difference between the O.C. courthouse and the vue?
