  1. The core is currently small, but if the City gets their act together, they will realize (I think they already do) that west of I-4 (Parramore) is the future. The core can double if the CBD (central business district) is extended west to Parramore or Westmoreland. Some zoning changes will insure we have a symmetry core with I-4 running down the middle. The beauty of the west side is that you can start from a clean sheet and create something truly special you find in higly desirable cores around the world.

Think Symmetry! The dowtown core could double with a population of 100K or more. Now that would generate some foot traffic....something really special!

Dont forget the difference in height restrictions west of I4, but this would be years from now.

  2. A little off topic but I was just checking out Emporis as I do often and it seems they updated some of Orlando's stats, now they list our metro population at 2,563,902 which was previously listed at 1.9 million.

Talk about a fast growing area huh? And now they list Orlando as having 223 high rise buildings which I believe they had 213 listed before. But still the pathetic photos as before of Orlando, hopefully that changes soon!

  3. Did you guys just watch the James Bond movie, hence the casino???

I rather Orlando develops a theatre district with permanant broadway show like vegas. People go to Vegas for gamble and for shows. People can come to Orlando for themeparks or for shows...that will be great

Thats a great idea hopefully when the OPAC opens up they will market the crap out of it, and nationally advertise some events and tie it in to a whole vacation thing.

  4. They really need to build the Central Connector that Pine Castle blocked back in 1991 so people living downtown (and hopefully some name companies some day) can get to/from the airport easily. It blows my mind that they can actually build stuff like the new Maitland extension and other sprawly nonsense but a road connecting downtown to the airport is not even considered.

You have a great point there gibby, you would think that a "Downtown Revitalization Plan" would include an easier way to get to a major airport. It takes 30-45 minutes with no traffic to get downtown from OIA.

  5. The Vue is 406 feet tall, 10 feet shorter than the O.C. courthouse. It was said on this thread that 20 feet of the 426 foot height is underground, so that makes 406'
