  1. Popular grocery chain Aldi purchases 11-acre site on O’Neal Lane in Baton Rouge Aldi, a fast-growing discount grocery store chain, has purchased an 11.1-acre site on O’Neal Lane. Aldi Inc. paid $1.35 million for the property at 2327 O’Neal Lane in a deal that was filed Wednesday with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court’s Office. The seller was All American Realty Corp. of Baton Rouge. The property was most recently home for a Hardee’s. Aldi specializes in only fast-moving grocery items instead of the wide variety carried in traditional supermarkets. The typical store size is 22,000 square feet, smaller than a traditional supermarket. About 10 employees work at each store.

  3. https://www.businessreport.com/realestate/cortana-property-owners-playing-hardball-with-amazon-proxy-potentially-threatening-major-deal Cortana property owners playing hardball with Amazon proxy, potentially threatening major deal For nearly a year, a property development firm with ties to Amazon has been trying to acquire the properties that comprise the now-shuttered Cortana Mall from their respective owners as part of a plan to redevelop the site into a 1 million-square-foot regional fulfillment and distribution center for the e-retail giant. But while the project—which would be a huge economic development win for Baton Rouge—is not dead yet, at least one property owner is playing hardball and threatening to derail the whole deal, according to sources familiar with the negotiations. Those working directly on the deal have signed a nondisclosure agreement with the property firm, Atlanta-based Seefried Industrial Properties, precluding them from discussing the project, but two sources tell Daily Report that Dillard’s department store is the holdout.
  4. Yes, the houses are very nice. I'm still disappointed the development destroyed what I called the house's "verdant quiet repose" but I am happy they did preserve it.
  5. Even though 30 is still a lot, I'm kind of surprised they didn't fit even more houses on all that land. I drove through there the other day and the houses are pretty nice though. Also I passed by Materra and saw dirt moving.
  6. Long Farm Village gets Campus Federal Credit Union to anchor office building A digitally focused Campus Federal Credit Union will occupy a 1,700-square-foot space in the office park that’s under construction in Long Farm Village, the mixed-use development at the intersection of Old Jefferson Highway and Antioch Road. The credit union marks the first tenant to join the office development. Construction on a 6,500-square-foot multi-tenant office building is expected to wrap in September, with Campus Federal slated to anchor the building when it opens early this fall • Overall, Mosely is approximately 50% finished with the residential portion of the development, having completed 160 of the more than 300 planned lots. • A nursing home with more than 100 beds that will be built between Long Farm Road and Old Jefferson Highway is expected to break ground within two years. Once complete, the 237-acre master-planned community will have more than 1,100 total housing units—including 300 detached single-family homes as well as townhomes, multifamily units and senior living—and up to 690,000 square feet of retail, office or mixed-use space.
  7. It's long good. I was wondering what that little glad building was for, maybe a guard station? But then they have multiple entrances.

    BREC

I was wondering what the deal was with that algae, but the mild winter issue makes sense.

    New Hotels

That is a surprisingly tall wooden hotel.
  11. I was wondering about that @Highland. Now that I've been telecommuting, I realize we could have been doing this all along. Hopefully we're able to implements telecommuting days permanently.
  12. Yeah, that wall is quite an impressive sight when you think about it.
  13. I tried there "bonuts", which are essentially beignets. They're really good.
  14. Yeah it does look better than the rendering for sure. Can't wait to see the inside.
  15. Those steps look cool. That "bike lane", yikes!

    BREC

I know, it looks really yucky out there.
  17. That company always makes nice developments.
  18. Census time is here. My educated guess is that BR metro is at 920k or at least that's what I want it to be.
  19. Yh, I think 9/11/Katrina describes the atmosphere well.
  20. Well, let it be recorded in the annals of Baton Rouge that in March 2020 coronavirus caution has swept the state of Louisiana, causing events, businesses, and public facilities to shut down temporarily to prevent the spread of disease.
  21. Yup, this have gotten pretty slow since the retail apocalypse and what not and now where looking at a recession. I won't consign us to life-support yet, some state threads haven't had posts since 2017 so I think we're doing pretty well to keep chugging along. Those developments kept us around for sure but its been our very small but loyal team that's kept this operation going. I do miss some of the people that no longer post from our hay-day circa pre-Recession though. Hopefully both the suspected Amazons centers will come to fruition, that'll be "BIG" for sure, !
  22. Thanks! Sure BR has it's ups and downs but it'll always be home.
  23. I don't know if I ever said it but I finally got myself a house, in Baton Rouge.
  24. Yh time sure does fly, its amazing to thing we've been hanging around here 15+ years.
