  4. Heathrow News from 10/26/2007 What JRS1 was talking about: Developer to build luxury Westin in Heathrow Orlando Business Journal - by Dan Ping Staff Writer HEATHROW -- An Alabama hotel developer plans to bring a heavenly approach to a new project in Heathrow. Srinath Yedla, CEO of Yedla Management Co., will break ground in February on a Westin-brand luxury hotel at the northwest corner of County Road 46A and International Parkway. Details are still being finalized, but Yedla says the hotel will feature about 250 rooms and Westin's signature Heavenly Spa offering messages, manicures, pedicures, and a full-service salon for men and women. Yedla declines to provide an estimated cost or square footage of the project, noting that the size of the spa and other amenities has yet to be determined. "We want to do a sky deck and provide some other amenities that will make this an ultra-luxury hotel," Yedla says. Next up convention center? I know there have been talks. Any news on that? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rockefeller enters Central Florida market Orlando Business Journal - by Dan Ping Staff Writer HEATHROW -- One of the most recognizable names in business -- Rockefeller -- will make its Central Florida debut with a $150 million project in Seminole County. The Rockefeller Group Development Corp. bought 29 acres on Sept. 20 from another well-known name in business, Jeno Paulucci, the frozen food king who created the upscale Heathrow community. The Rockefeller Group paid $16.75 million for the land at International Parkway north of Colonial Town Center in Heathrow, where it intends to develop an office/retail center. Plans have not been finalized, but the company wants to build 200,000-250,000 square feet of Class A office space, says John Petricola, Rockefeller's regional director in Florida.

  7. The list was made available to me so I thought it would be good to share it. Sure we are in a slump, I think many areas in the US are right now. But the advantages we have as a market can only bring us closer to a balanced economy or better more quickly than many cities in similar housing scenarios. Growing paint, who didn't have em?

Disney has given $12 million towards the OPAC and will have a performance hall named in their honor. They also sit on the board and will contribute creatively to it. No ignorance here my friend, just have seen for myself how Disney has been upping their community involvement in recent history.

Do any other performing arts facilities in the U.S. besides the The Los Angeles Music Center have the financial and creative backing of one of if not the largest entertainment bohemiths in the entertaining world? Nope.. Disney has been a big contributor to this community and will be a major contributor to it's PAC. If what they have done in LA lends itself to what may be in store for Orlando..be prepared change your tune Walt Disney Concert Hall

  16. This guy and his team of selfish lawyers got themselves wraped so tight around this issue running up to the votes that I think they may have completely lost touch with reality. Rosen is probably so used to getting everything done his way and the fact that he got BEAT on this has him kicking and screaming like a spoiled child. Fueling the fire, the Rosen legal team has probably done so well for themselves working for this man that they too are going to fight like bulls until their sugar daddy gets his prize. The community should stand up against Rosen for his utter lack of comprehension that Central Florida residence don't want community venues in the tourists Orlando, they want it in the place we call Orlando, downtown.

  22. Retail developers like Orlando The city's population growth and stability make it attractive, a new study says. Despite a slumping housing market and rising construction and insurance costs, Orlando remains a hot spot for retail development, according to a Florida retail real estate report expected to be formally released on Monday. Orlando led the state in number and value of shopping center deals for the first half of 2007, the report said. That may slacken as terms for financing are expected to tighten in the next six months. ------------------------------------- Now just convince them to open up downtown. I would think it shouldn't be too far off with the foot tracffic expected to increase when the venues are up operating.
  23. I always thought these things looked cool and futuristic at Disney and I welcome them to help Downtown in it's personalty makeover. I wonder if we will start to see pedicab vs. segway races? Now that would be Original!
