I pondered long and hard on how I should respond to your post, but in the spirit of civility, I won't go back and forth... I'll just leave it at this, and I'm done with it. While Shreveport-Bossier has its quarks and disadvantages, I believe we are poised for something special in the coming years. Shreveport-Bossier is different from the rest of the state culturally-wise... We have influences from Texas, as well as some from our neighbors down south. But, I believe it's those differences that make our area inherently unique. We're a conglomeration of many different cultures and backgrounds...
Now, if this was 1992, I would probably agree with most of your assessment of our economic potential. We'll probably never compete the major metropolises that surround us (NO, Dallas, Houston, etc.,.), but that's not our battle to fight. Look, I applaud the growth that's being exhibited in other parts of the state. When NO, BR, and Lafayette does well, we all benefit from that. I'm not jealous of what's going on down there. Do I wish our growth would accelerate a little bit quicker...sure. But I'm bullish on our our future here, and I hope I can continue to highlight the positive stories and events associated with Shreveport-Bossier's socio-economic development. Let's keep the focus on that, and not on what isn't happening according to some...
