  1. Facts. No offense to the OP, but I chuckled when I read "back in the day". I gotta dig out the 3 rolls of photos I took on a 102 degree Sunday in 1995...back in the day.
  2. And summer temperatures hang on another week. Mid to upper 80s. This seems more typical of October these days. I hate it. But FINALLY, it appears fall arrives this weekend.
  3. Can "Dixie" be removed from thread title. Thank you kindly.
  4. Agree. I think as a city it's passed time to let it go. We know who we are, the nation knows Charlotte more then ever, and internationally we fare pretty good too.
  5. BOOT AND TOW THESE VEHICLES. Period. Once word gets out that Buffy had her Peugeot towed... problem solved. Edit*** which is exactly what KJHburg said 4hrs ago. Lol. Well said KJHburg!!
  6. I was THRILLED to see the new trolley going over Independence yesterday just before I reached the bridge!!!! So cool...
  7. FACTS all around. Southwestern Rowan County....That's a peculiar area.
  8. Hate Piedmont summers more each year. As a snow lover, I actually feel more alive in winter. Why? I get to get my hopes up over and over that snow will actually fall in Concord!! That childlike hope turns into hate for winters in the Piedmont normally. But at least I'm not taking 3 showers a day. Plus, at some point a few flakes manage to fall.
  9. Speaking for Cabarrus County. I think 57% is low. My unscientific, off the wall, gut feeling predicts 81% growth. Cabarrus County will have about 420,000 residents in 2050.
  10. Living. Your insight is appreciated and definitely takes the South Mountains out of play. I want 85 at MOST in summer and I want my windows open at night. Lows 60-65 or less.
  11. This is a pretty big deal. I heard they were already working in the Christenbury/Cox Mill Rd areas in Cabarrus. Can anyone explain how google fiber will compete with Spectrum and Kinetic internet services? I'm honestly not very read up on it...just enough to know it's an awesome announcement... thx
  12. I detest summer's in the Piedmont more and more as they come and go. Does anyone know if the South Mountains are noticeably cooler in the summer? If not so much the day, does the higher elevation lend to cooler nights and breezes? Not trying to be too far from Charlotte, but it just seems hotter each year! Not to mention the heavy stagnant air. Ugghh... thx for a place to vent.
  13. Pretty much any US city is dress down compared to NYC imo. I was speaking not as much about brands, but that Charlotte women aren't sloppy with their fashion choices. I lived in D.C. for a bit and I think Charlotte dresses better then D.C. I lived in Philly and fashion there is very organic. Trends begin in places like Philly. Trends don't begin in Charlotte. Just my 3 cents."-)
  14. @KJHburg posted info yesterday on this. Just a bit more insight plus photos. More development in downtown Kannapolis!! Apartments, Condos, hotel. https://www.wbtv.com/2021/07/27/more-private-investment-development-announced-downtown-kannapolis/
  15. I literally want to cry just looking at the string of 90s coming up. I know this is the dog days of summer, but can we get a few 80 degree days with no humidity for shtz and giggles please!!
  16. You hit the nail on the head, however I do agree with nakers2 regarding Charleston and it's Old South style. I think women in Charlotte dress exceptionally well for a US city. It's somewhat of a "soft" modern style if you will. Meaning, seersucker will likely be implemented in the outfit somehow. Ha! Khaki pants/shorts and pastel shirts need to be outright banned for men in Charlotte though. I get so tired of seeing advertisements for this or that that feature Uptown scenes. It never fails that most of the men are wearing a pastel shirt with khakis. The best dressed city on this side of the pond is hands down Montreal.
  17. Austin is developing a very impressive skyline! Im not sure where they are getting their architects from but Charlotte could use some of the flair Austin has. I expected to see more cranes though. I guess building has slowed there somewhat? Thanks for the awesome link!
  18. Charlotte and Nashville are as different as oil and water imo. Charlotte is a business city and a place people raise their children in. Nashville is the Country Music destination of planet Earth! I keep hoping that one of those Country music awards shows might move to Charlotte just for one year. Maybe Nascar fits into the awards show somehow. So yes, Nashville has plenty for other cities to envy. But imo, it's not the skyline. (Btw, I have been to Nashville a handful of times.) I don't always feel welcome though because it's such a red state and I can smell bigotry and racism miles away. It's good you've had the opportunity to visit so many great cities. My list? Atlanta Tampa Miami Nashville, New Orleans, Houston, San Antonio,Dallas, Chicago, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, lived in DC briefly, lived in Philly for 10yrs, the city not the burbs. Baltimore, NYC, Boston, Denver, Detroit, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Las Vegas, San Diego, L.A. The SF bay area, Portland, Seattle, Orlando, Cleveland and Toronto. Oh and Quebec. London, Rio De Jeneiro, Charleston SC, Jacksonville FL,
  19. Ok yes, I see buildings. But there is no cohesiveness to any of them. Im indifferent regarding Nashville, but if this is what Charlotte competition looks like. Ha! In fact, it's somewhat beneath Charlotte to be concerned with Nashville. The only similarity is that both cities are in the South.
  20. I hope you got a witch doctor to drink!!! Just in case, its like a "cherry-lemon" (no need to add drink to the end. But it has pickles like the one on your what-a-burger and then they add actual pickle juice. I always ask for extra pickle juice. They are addictive I swear! Mr.C's by the Hospital also serves them.
  21. My first memory of the Charlotte skyline is driving Independence after being at whats now Park Expo. I can vividly remember the BOCC probably up to at least 40 floors. I was in awe. Great picture btw!
  22. I gave my thoughts on Asheboro and Randolph County. There are many small towns such as Davidson, Franklin, and Marshall NC that produce food and had/have factories. But to my knowledge free thinking and difference of opinion are quite welcome in those towns. Places like Denton and Asheboro, among others, people get hurt sometimes for not following the pack. Watering down present day reality has failed so many times in history. That area of NC is as racist and bigoted as it gets in our state. FACTS.
  23. What a depressed city Asheboro looks to be. Wow. Asheboro and Randolph County are well known as very racist with rumors of active KKK. Let it rot.
  24. I'm more interested in watching how traffic is quickly reaching pre-covid levels in major cities. Looking at yesterday, Charlotte suddenly saw a huge swing in traffic congestion. Check out Austin though! Wow.
  25. It doesn't need to roll off the tongue necessarily right? It's been dubbed NoDa since as far back as 1998 for sure. 23yrs is a long time. Losing Fat City STILL hurts, LEAVE NoDa be!!
