  1. From a mall employee standpoint, I welcome it. It is something new in very poor food court.
  2. good luck.... Also, the latest rumor buzzing around the mall is that McDonalds will take the spot of Picture People.
  3. They just started construction last week.
  4. We're open Monday - Saturday 10am-6pm. Closed on Sunday.
  5. According to the mall newsletter, White House Black Market is moving to Oakley's old location.
  6. that "manager guy" at Billy Reid is actually the Director of Stores and is only going to be here for a few more months. His name is Jeremy and is a super cool guy. Sorry you guys had a bad experience. I know they were going through a rough spot a while back... it was just him and whitney (the tall thin girl)... 1 part timer was out due to a family emergency and one quit because decided retail just wasn't for her. now they have some new people hired up so it should improve.
  7. I dunno if this has been mentioned but Oakley is closing at Southpark. Everything is 50% off except eyewear and watches. the manager is even willing to negotiate prices. i got some tshirts, a laptop bag, and the golf bag for a touch over $200. the golf bag alone is $320 and the laptop bag is $175 full retail. they close the doors on Sunday.
  8. Billy Reid opens tomorrow. The wall is down and the store looks really nice. When i was there earlier none of the fixtures or merchandise was in teh store but I asked a friend of mine will be working there and she said all the merch. is being prepped in the Juicy location while they finish the finishing touches. should be open by 10am tomorrow.
  9. Most don't. The discount SUCKS (compared to other high end retailers)
  10. There is A LOT of money here in Charlotte and they all spend well so I don't think it will be a learning curve (for the elite). But for the rest of the market, it will be. You're right though... people used to shopping at Belk and even Nordstrom will be a little taken back at the price at first but I think in time, will warm up to it. I'm not saying they will jump ship on Belk and Nordstroms and only shop at NM, but over time the percentage spent at NM compared to the others will grow. Take a look at Hermes. Their market research (taken from internet sales and sales from the Atlanta and Washington DC) showed a HUGE client base in the Carolinas and even into eastern Tennessee. And we aren't just talking scraves and ties... ready to wear, L'Art de Vivre, and L'Art de la'Table and did VERY well. But, will it be a slow start? Yes, because it is a small percentage of the client base that doens't have to worry about dropping 4-7k on a suit, or 13k on a handbag. For the rest of the potential client base, it will take time, just like NM. But, there is a client base here that cannot wait for the store to open and have already tried to pre-order items. I would say give both (or any high end retailer) 5 years and you will see some VERY successful stores.
  11. I work with 2 former NM employee's at my new store (1 was on commission and 1 was not) and from what they say, the sales people at NM should be trying to help anyone they can. The sales just aren't there. Some sales associates will go days and days between sales. The moral amongst the employees is poor. NM promised them they would make all this money and it just isn't happening. I think in time it will become a great place, but its off to a slow start.
  12. I was in the mall today poking around the Hermes site and noticed that Billy Reid still has a lot of construction stuff still up. I haven't talked to my friend in a little over a week but I don't see the Dec. 1 opening happening. Unless they get some stuff done throughout the night...
  13. Why do you say that? I'm not saying it will or it won't, just curious why. I was going through the materials they gave my friend and they have a pretty aggressive expansion plan. Billy Reid (it is just him and 2 investors) wants to add 3-4 stores each year for the next 2-3 years. I found that kind of quick for a brand that is so small.
  14. I think it is pretty cool stuff. I agree that some of the images from their website leave a little to be desired but I have been to the store in Houston and I like it. I'm just too tall to wear it According to my friend who will be a manager there, there target customer is 6'1" and 150 pounds.
  15. Yep, Billy Reid will serve whiskey and opens on Dec. 1
  16. Because they can. I see it all day, everyday. It amazes me actually... the store I currently work at isn't exactly on the same level as LV but still nice stuff and people will still come in and drop 2-3k like it is nothing. I can only imagine what it is going to be like at my new store...
  17. Slight delay on the opening of Hermes. The new target date is Dec. 18th.
  18. Looks like Hermes store hours will be Monday-Saturday 10-6 and closed on Sunday...
  19. Very true! Though I did park next to a dark blue Ferrari yesterday underneath NM. Whoever it was must have been going incognito
  20. I'm at the mall damn near everyday and haven't seen Crate and Barrel's progress in like 3 months. I just never drive in that entrance anymore.
  21. The target open date for Hermes is Dec. 15. there is a possibility of opening sooner. i'll should know more after friday.
  22. a recruiter for Billy Reid was wondering around the mall this past weekend. According to him, Billy Reid wil open Dec. 1.
  23. Nope, not scheduled to open till December. I have 2 very good inside sources on that one.
