the ralph lauren spot will split into 2 stores and from what I am told they will both be high end.

I am now hearing some rumblings from various people connected with the mall (but not a trustworthy source) that H&M still may come to SouthPark. The details don't make any sense at all (H&M and Apple SHARING the old GAP location) so I really don't see it happening but these people seem very adament about it. But considering who it is coming from I'm not putting any stock into it.

I have heard it straight from Randy's mouth that H&M is NOT coming to SouthPark. H&M requires 22,000 square feet and there is no space in the mall that big.

And apparently Chuy's is opening a restaraunt in/near the mall somewhere.

GAP/GAP Kids is moving to the old Brooks Brothers/Coldwater Creek spots and Apple is moving to the old GAP spot.

The Art of Shaving is coming to SouthPark Mall. Should be soon if I remember correctly.

I decided to venture to the other side of the mall on my lunch today and noticed that Geox is gone. Appears to be an art gallery now.

I can assure you that isn't happening.

Apple has been bugging the mall about a moving to a bigger location for a while now but there just isn't a space big enough for Apple to move into to make it worthwhile. I do think an Apple store downtown would be pretty cool though.

According to the minutes from the last merchant meeting the art gallery in the sigrid olsen spot and purple pickett are TEMPORARY locations for both stores.

i doubt aeropostale would be in the mall recruiting and giving out cards if they weren't coming in this mall. apparently they already have their fulltime positions filled already. maybe he was mistaken on the location but he did say it was the spot where champs was. maybe he meant foot locker?

I really like the rendering on the trumpcharlotte.com site. I hope this gets built, especially with some high end retail stores.

aeropostale will be taking the Champs spot. They were in the mall recruiting part time employees today.

From what I can tell business is doing pretty well. My store is just a couple doors down and we see people with Neiman Marcus bags going in and out all the time. I know it isn't the most scientific way of measuring success but hey, it's all i got right now . a couple people came in the store today from Pure Denim... they say they will carry your normal high end jeans (7 for All Mankind, etc...) but will also have some even higher end brands. didn't catch any names though as they caught us at a busy time.

From what I have been told by someone who has been to one, it is... I forgot the names he mentioned... paper denim and cloth, citizen, 7, etc...

When I was there it definitely wasn't the typical Piper Glen/Ballantyne crowd... they were definitely there for the prices.

Has anyone been in the DoubleTree at SouthPark lately? That place has gone downhill.... we had an employee from another store come visit a few months back and we set her up at the DoubleTree.... the place was so bad it was embarrassing. I might be a bit extreme but I say tear it down and little "mini" tower hotel (10 stories max). BTW, Fila is closing. Another division of Fila bought Fila USA and they have decided to focus on department store sales and close all the Fila boutiques in the US. Everything in the store is 75% off. That is such a tiny spot... I don't know what could go there. Definitely not anything we have been waiting for (gucci, a{sodEmoji.|}x, french connection, etc...)

I could have sworn it said Enchanted, oh well.

Don't forget the Starbucks at the Piedmont building. Oh, and the spot where Picture People was will be a place called Enchanted. Juicy opened today too.

Juicy is getting close to being ready. The wall has come down and it isn't a bad looking store... alot of brown and pink. I'll be glad when they open so all the hammering and sawing will stop!
