I am now hearing some rumblings from various people connected with the mall (but not a trustworthy source) that H&M still may come to SouthPark. The details don't make any sense at all (H&M and Apple SHARING the old GAP location) so I really don't see it happening but these people seem very adament about it. But considering who it is coming from I'm not putting any stock into it.

I have heard it straight from Randy's mouth that H&M is NOT coming to SouthPark. H&M requires 22,000 square feet and there is no space in the mall that big.

And apparently Chuy's is opening a restaraunt in/near the mall somewhere.

GAP/GAP Kids is moving to the old Brooks Brothers/Coldwater Creek spots and Apple is moving to the old GAP spot.

The Art of Shaving is coming to SouthPark Mall. Should be soon if I remember correctly.

I decided to venture to the other side of the mall on my lunch today and noticed that Geox is gone. Appears to be an art gallery now.

Hermes is also rumored to be on the way out.
I can assure you that isn't happening.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but it looks like SouthPark is getting an American Apparel.

Apple has been bugging the mall about a moving to a bigger location for a while now but there just isn't a space big enough for Apple to move into to make it worthwhile.
I do think an Apple store downtown would be pretty cool though.

I thought that was going to be Michael Kors.
According to the minutes from the last merchant meeting the art gallery in the sigrid olsen spot and purple pickett are TEMPORARY locations for both stores.

Appparently the rumor about Aeropostale wasnt true...i walked by there today and the sign said "coming soon Poppy Pia"......whomp whomp....it's basically a store that has a location already in Carolina Place....it's a like a cheaper version of Forever 21 basically. Temporary store im thinking?
i doubt aeropostale would be in the mall recruiting and giving out cards if they weren't coming in this mall. apparently they already have their fulltime positions filled already. maybe he was mistaken on the location but he did say it was the spot where champs was. maybe he meant foot locker?

I really like the rendering on the trumpcharlotte.com site. I hope this gets built, especially with some high end retail stores.

aeropostale will be taking the Champs spot. They were in the mall recruiting part time employees today.

From what I can tell business is doing pretty well. My store is just a couple doors down and we see people with Neiman Marcus bags going in and out all the time. I know it isn't the most scientific way of measuring success but hey, it's all i got right now
.a couple people came in the store today from Pure Denim... they say they will carry your normal high end jeans (7 for All Mankind, etc...) but will also have some even higher end brands. didn't catch any names though as they caught us at a busy time.

i went by it the other day, its actually ***PURE DENIM*** Not True Denim and unfortunately not True Religion......maybe its just an independantly owned boutique that will carry high end denim? (Hopefully)
From what I have been told by someone who has been to one, it is... I forgot the names he mentioned... paper denim and cloth, citizen, 7, etc...

You were making a funny, weren't you. This is Piper Glen we're speaking of. The only reason the Ballantyne housewives are crowding in is because they want to be SEEN shopping at the newest place, not because it's economical. How many Escalades, Hummer H2s, Cayennes and Volvo Cross Country wagons were in the parking lot? My guess? Too many to count.
When I was there it definitely wasn't the typical Piper Glen/Ballantyne crowd... they were definitely there for the prices.

I talked to someone who worked for Earthfare and they said that the South Park store will be ready and open on August 15.
That seems awfully quick.

Has anyone been in the DoubleTree at SouthPark lately? That place has gone downhill.... we had an employee from another store come visit a few months back and we set her up at the DoubleTree.... the place was so bad it was embarrassing. I might be a bit extreme but I say tear it down and little "mini" tower hotel (10 stories max).
BTW, Fila is closing. Another division of Fila bought Fila USA and they have decided to focus on department store sales and close all the Fila boutiques in the US. Everything in the store is 75% off. That is such a tiny spot... I don't know what could go there. Definitely not anything we have been waiting for (gucci, a{sodEmoji.|}x, french connection, etc...)

Juicy is getting close to being ready. The wall has come down and it isn't a bad looking store... alot of brown and pink. I'll be glad when they open so all the hammering and sawing will stop!

here a link to Doug's blog where he sat down with the Trump kids. Looks like they are taking a look at how well the project by the Westin is going to do before making any decisions. I really hope this happens and they decide to go "big".

There's a mcdonalds across the road. It's just making a poor food court poorer. From a mall employee's standpoint I'm glad I get a discount at Mccormicks.
