I-73's impact on Florence

Charleston native

When I-73 is complete, will it boost Florence's population and economy? Or will Florence end up being a rest stop on another interstate? Explain your answer.

Your rite monsoon, its a pointless arguement. But I do think my point was miss understood. But N-E-way.....

The point being: I-73 will finally connect the western edge of South Carolina with the sprawling Traid of North Carolina's High Point, Winston-Salem, and Greensboro area.

So i guess its gonna look sumtin like this......

Dont take this the wrong way but I-73 alignment is to not go east of Rockingham like that :). The NC alignment is to follow US 220, go around the western end of Rockingham, utilize the Rockingham-Hamlet Bypass (US 74) then it was ONCE to parallel US 1 to SC but according to Bob Malme, its not anymore due to enviromental reasons (perhaps the Pee Dee river tributaries). It is now going to multiplex with US 74 to NC 38 now. All this does now is make I-73/74 a longer multiplex, only in NC. The SC routing according to what i read about in a recent meeting with SCDOT and NCDOT is likely correct.

(the routing to US 1 is now erronous)

(North of Rockingham)

(Rockingham area)

(NC 38 alignment south of Hamlet to SC state line)
