The Winston-Salem Police Dept is getting $3.9 million dollars in funding for 25 new police officers. The money will cover their salaries for 3 years. The city had request $16 milion dollars. 50 agencies in NC received funds from this program. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department was the only agency to get more money than W-S, receiving $8.5 million. Lexington is receiving $145,005 and Mt. Airy is receiving $257,598.

The Forsyth Sheriff's Dept was turned down for their request. I don't know of other Triad area agencies that applied.
