Carraway Medical Center done?

It appears that Physicians Medical Center Carraway formerly known as Carraway Methodist, is seriously considering filing for bankruptcy. This 100-year-old facility which originally Norwood Hospital, and was bought in 2006 by a group of doctors purchased it saving it from the bankruptcy then. However, it looks like Carraway's luck has ran out because its line of credit is gone. It so sad to see one of the oldest medical facilities in this region close, and essentially leaving a large population base nothing of the City Center unserved by a medical facility.

The hospital that is proposed to be constructed in Gardendale/Fultondale area better be confirmed or otherwise many people will be force to travel nearly 30 miles to nearest hospital.

There is some good news to this situation, the City of Birmingham has offered to step in and help the facility stay open. Also the operators of the hospital and creditors are open to renegotiating. It looks like Carraway will remain open, and hopefully for the long term

Well, tragically tomorrow will be the last day that Physician Medical Center-Carraway will be in existence since the last of the patients must be released or relocated to other area medical facilities. Well, it amazing in the past decade that Carraway went from being 1 of the area's 2 Level I trauma center to being shutdown due to financial reasons.
